Seiji honestly never thought anyone would feel for him in a romantic way, it just didn’t seem possible. While he was a scientist and knew that the probability for it was possible, it was still hard for him to fully understand it. He still had a hard time really thinking that someone even liked and wanted to be around him as friends. It might have been the fact that he was abandoned as a child twice, the bullying, and the fact that it took a while for him to gain friends due his snakes. However, that didn’t stop him from trying and hoping that there was someone out there for him that would accept all of him.
Tamara was right in her thinking that Seiji was never the one to make the first move, it was just something that could be considered impossible for him. He didn’t want to make someone uncomfortable or feel that they had to do anything for him so he was never going to be the one to make the first move that was needed in order to become more then friends with someone. He looked up at her when she assured him that he didn’t need to feel bad and that he needed to basically build his self-esteem. He really did and he was well of that.
It was why he took another large sip of his drink so he could take on more of the effects of alcohol into his system. However, he didn’t have one of his snakes there to help him be bold and do things. As for not having his snakes on him, Tamara was aware and pointing out that they were a crutch. It was the truth but it still hurt to hear since they were all he had and likely to ever have to the end of his days. At least that was how he felt on the matter. “T-thanks.” Seiji spoke up when she assured him that she basically was going to look out for him.
Then they were dancing, which helped him forget about the other people around and the fact that he was without his snakes. It was all very casual and friendly, which was what Seiji would have taken it as no matter what unless she kissed him out of the blue, but he highly doubted that. He at the very least stayed dancing with her through two songs before moving to take a break. “You are a pretty good dancer.” Seiji would say when they were mostly off the dancefloor, having to speak up over the next song that started to play.
