“Pips doesn’t have his scent glands anymore. But he’s male and apparently they smell more. But sterilisation is said to make them more aggressive to I didn’t go for that,” he explained, even if he figured she was talking of the cartoon character and not his ferret. Pips didn’t smell nearly as bad as a skunk.
It didn’t take days of hard and long decision for Quinn to pick Pips. His aunt was afraid he didn’t make enough friends in this new school and offered for him to have a pet. It was the next best thing, right? You just have to look at those old ladies and cats. He meant to have a bird. Not a dog, he didn’t want to give it a walk everyday and not a cat because he had enough people ignoring him without having his pet doing the same. But the birds he wanted were all so expensive. And let’s be honest, a single little chirping thing would be kind of boring. His aunt suggested fur animals, like a rabbit. Not a rat, rats were for weird people. Quinn opted instead for the ferret.
Pips decided playing was nice but napping was even better. He ended up curled up on Erin to sleep. Funny how small he could look. In that shape, he was almost like a donut or something. Sounded better than say he looked like a tire.
Quinn raised an eyebrow at her question. “Is that how you tease people?” Why would it be weird for him to be this close to her? It was not like it would be romantic or romantically intended. He offered her his laptop after opening it. “I don’t have a lot of DVDs but you might find something nice on streaming or something. You want something to drink? Or chips?” He meant to leave and picked that up while she found something. Might as well stay here. At least if his roommates came in, they would not risk losing the control of the television or deal with them as they’d join. It might not be a date but Quinn preferred not to be disturbed by someone he did not invite.
