Selina smiled at his response and nodded, before letting him take the lead. Following others wasn't something she did often, regardless of context. It didn't exactly feel strange, because she'd obviously followed people before, but it was still a noticeable difference for her. Sometimes her natural habits ended up being more of a hindrance than anything, but Nico hadn't seemed to mind too much, so she didn't say anything.
"Now that is convenient," she said with a grin as she fell into step a little behind him. "Ever been there before?" she asked as she unconsciously shifted the bag of weed on her shoulders so it was easier to carry. She was surprised by the fact that she hadn't been to the abandoned dorms herself and was happy to get the chance to explore.
Where was that good girl she'd been trying so hard to be recently? Selina honestly figured stealing weed wasn't exactly that bad on the list of things she could have been doing though. Still... Selina found she just didn't give that much of a damn. She felt like she probably should, but she didn't.

Nico kept heading forward, already anticipating what was ahead. He could feel his body naturally reacting even as his mind started figuring the best place to store the weed. Hide that first, then worry about the whole sex thing at a slightly later point. that was a bit easier when Selina wasn't directly in front of him, reminding him quite physically of what he could expect.
"Yep," he offered, looking over his shoulder at her, albeit not at the bits he'd just been considering. "Great place to get away from people. Gotta be careful: They're moving people in soon, but," he shrugged. They weren't yet, and you had to take places like this as they came, really, especially around here. Nico had long ago learned to just sort of roll with things, and now he did it to such an extent that it was more than second nature: it was his first reaction to the world around him.
They entered the dorm building, Nico directing them toward the unfinished, mostly abandoned ones. He didn't go into the immediate first one, instead waiting a few rooms down. There he paused, opening the door and leaning forward, looking around. It seemed to have finished construction: no tools or anything. No furniture yet either. Nico leaned back, gesturing toward it, wanting Selina to look and give her opinion as well.

Selina nodded and briefly met his gaze, “We’ll take what we can get,” she offered with a half-smile. She knew well how to roll with the punches and how to adapt to what was available. When you grew up poor in a tiny apartment, learning the economy of space and getting creative about living on a tight budget were tools of survival. Selina figured it wasn’t exactly the same, but the level-headed aspect of it certainly came into play.
Selina followed him, glancing down briefly and enjoying the view, because why not? “In more ways than one,” she mused idly with a small smirk before her eyes traveled up his back to a more respectable location. She paused as he entered a room and then followed him at his motion to check it out. She glanced around at the interior and noticed the lack of furniture with a partial huff of amusement.
She saw nothing wrong with it, and thought it was as good a place as any so she nodded to him and completely entered the room. “Hopefully by the time they start moving people in, we’ll be done with this,” she said, indicating the bag at her shoulder as she dropped it to the floor. Also, perhaps the construction noise would keep a certain nosy cat out of their way. It was something to hope for anyway.

Was that some sort of slight toward him just being available? Nico raised his brows at that, but he definitely didn't do or say anything. Again: so long as Selina continued to be available, he saw no reason to rock the boat. Or whatever this happened to be. Just keep moving forward and live in the present. Worked for Nico, and he was fairly certain it worked for Selina too.
at least it had gotten them here. Nico took a few more steps inside, looking around, not that there was much to see. Literally every dorm room had been designed exactly the same. It had sort of unnerved him the first time, but like everything else in this strange place, you kind of got used to it.
"Should be," he said, looking back at the bag. "Just stash that in a closet," he nodded, "and it'll be ready in, what, a few days? A week tops? They aren't moving anyone for longer than that," Nico might not have cared, but he at least paid attention. You couldn't avoid crowds and people if you didn't know where they were, after all. He turned, walking toward the rooms, looking into one. They had to pick a closet somewhere, after all, and they weren't going to do that without some looking around first.

Selina would never be cruel or hypocritical enough to slight her partners for getting involved with her. It went completely against her nature to even think of her words as being an insult. She was just so used to being open with who she was that sometimes she forgot about how others could hear what she was saying. It seemed to be happening more and more often recently and she absently made a note to watch her tongue at his reaction to her words, "I didn't mean it like that," she offered sincerely.
Damn it. Sometimes brutal honesty was a boon, but at times like this she also recognized the need for tact, even amongst friends. Selina raised a brow in turn at his mention of it taking a few days. "I wouldn't touch it before it's been dried for over three weeks. I mean, it's smokable after about two, but it's only good after it's dried for a month or so. Besides we still have to trim the stalks," she offered simply.
Pot was a hell of a lot of work to get to where it was useful for gaining the high they wanted. She thought about finding a dealer somewhere who could at least pay them for what they'd stolen, but she was alright with curing it as well. The first seventy-two hours were the most important, after that the plant could be left alone until it dried properly.

The sincerity almost unnerved Nico. Not that they hadn't been honest with each other before now. It was just a sort of emotional back patting that Nico didn't normally equate with Selina. "I know," he offered in response, almost surprised to find he meant it. He liked to think he got Selina in that regard, at least to some degree. Sex was casual, fun, enjoyable between two people with at least some chemistry. no need to trivialize.
Though apparently Nico was way off with his judgment of pot. He let out a sigh as she explained, rubbing at his face for a few moments. he paused to lean against the door. Three weeks, minimum. That would push them into school proper. Bit of a gamble, but nothing said they couldn't move it. After it had dried some it would be easier to hide after all.
"Can you tell I only smoke the stuff?" he asked dryly, looking over at Selina. He chuckled and pushed himself off the door, walking a few feet further into the room, heading toward the closet. It seemed like they'd finished with everything here. He tapped the wall for a moment, wondering if they should try some sort of false front or something. He should've paid more attention to the drug dealers back home.

Selina nodded at his response and said nothing more. Part of her was aware that she was protecting Nico from herself in a way, but she didn't choose to focus on it. Usually she didn't give a damn about how people interpreted her words or actions, but she did when her friends were involved, particularly when she’d said something that could be taken as callous or even cruel.
Selina’s harsh laughter was his only answer for a few seconds before she shook her head, “Don’t worry about it. I have more than enough experience for both of us.” There were things she’d done that she wasn’t proud of in an effort to help her family get through shitty financial straits and Marijuana was just as illegal in Chile as it was here in America, so there was good money to be made if you were willing to risk it. And there had been more than a few times that she had been willing to risk it, particularly when the rent hadn’t been paid for a month already, but he didn’t need to know that.
“Hmm, I might need some supplies to hang it up properly. If we’re doing this, might as well go all the way with it,” she offered nonchalantly. Simply hanging it up with clothes pins attached to hanger or something would easily work well enough. So long as the stalks weren’t touching each other and had room to dry out, they’d be fine. Perhaps she’d even be able to find a fan to help them dry quicker.

More than enough experience, eh? Nico glanced over at Selina, recalling that there was still quite a bit he didn't know about her. Specifics, for the most part. Nico wasn't one to pry, and while, yes, he was most definitely intrigued and curious and more than half-tempted to start asking and see what sort of answers turned up when he did, at the same time he knew he had to respect Selina's privacy. That and, well, it really didn't matter too much in the end.
"I can get us some stuff," he offered, looking around. "So long as it's nothing major. We'll need, what, something to hang it with? Maybe a heat lamp or something?" Yeah, he was showing his ignorance again but, well, she already knew that. Nothing said he couldn't at least offer some suggestions here and there, try to be helpful.
He also jerked his head back toward the room he'd been in. "There's a decent closet in there," he offered. He didn't elaborate: not much more to say on the matter. They were already doing this, and talking just delayed it further.

"Honestly clothes pins and hangers would probably work really well for this," she agreed before glancing up at him with a grin, "And yeah, a heat lamp might actually work well if you know where to get one," she replied. "If not, a regular fan would be fine to. Just something to keep it rather dry and warm in here," she said as she pulled her water bottle out of her backpack and pulled some water from it with her power, freezing it to a razor sharp point, "And I can start trimming off the leaves in the meantime," she added with a smile.
Selina looked up at the information about the closet, "Excellent. It'd probably be best if I just trimmed it over there then. Keeping the trimmed leaves nearby while it dries is supposed to help with something or other that I honestly can't remember," she explained with a half-laugh. "A shoe box to put them in would be good I think. Easier to clean up that way," she said as she picked up the back pack and headed towards the other room.
"You think you can get them for me?" she asked with a slightly teasing smile. "I'd actually be grateful," she added somewhat seriously. The quicker she got this done, the quicker she could get to other things far more interesting.

Clothes pins and hangers, yeah, that sounded doable. Nico actually thought he knew where to get a heat lamp too. That was always the fun part of being quiet and just watching and listening to people. They stopped realizing you were there and just started talking as if there wasn't another set of ears around. Left him more than ready to find most of what Selina was asking for.
Nico did take a step back as she drew a weapon: old habits going into play then. His hand fell down to his own pocket, but he stopped himself before actually doing anything more than that. Selina would trim and get things together, even talking about a shoe-box.
So that was shoe box, clothes pins, hangers, a heat lamp and/or a fan.
"I'm guessing you mean now," Nico said. He let out a sigh, rubbing at his face. he looked to the plants for a moment, but nodded. "I'll be back quick as I can," he said, before turning to head for the door. He did, after all, know precisely where to go. And assuming Selina didn't need him for anything further, it was a relatively quick trip to head back to the dorms and start gathering everything. Hell, he could get most of it from his room alone, even "borrowing" stuff from roommates...

Selina noticed his reaction to her weapon, “Sorry, I should have warned you,” she offered sincerely. She would have reacted the same way and she knew where it was coming from, “Promise I’ll let you know if I plan on attacking,” she teased lightly with a half-smile. She wasn’t making fun in the slightest, but she also had a feeling that if she actually acted nice, she would freak him out.
At his guess, she chuckled, “Now would be good, though I could always get them later,” she offered easily. She didn’t mind, though she wasn’t entirely sure where she would find a heating lamp, she did know where a few fans were. “Thanks,” she said as he started to head out. “Hopefully I’ll have most of this completed by the time you get back,” she replied.
It usually took a lot longer as there was often a much larger amount that had to be cut down, but she only had a small amount of weed that actually needed trimming, so she figured it wouldn’t be too bad. She also had other reasons to want this to be done quickly, one of them being sex. Most of them being sex actually. She had a one track mind sometimes, which occasionally ended up being beneficial.

Nico had to let out a slight shrug at Selina's apology. not like he didn't have his own weapon or anything like that (he might very well make sure he had it in hand when he came back the next time, not that he didn't trust Selina, but, well, he didn't like being the only unarmed person in the room, especially if he was fairly confident that the other person was more than capable and more than willing to use the weapon if it came down to things). Nico did hear the now bit, and did take off, knowing he'd have to gather things up.
Wasn't too bad. he had the basics: the clothes pins, the hangers, his knife, even a fan, technically. Turned out that one of his roommates had a space heater that he'd reserved for the winter months or something. Nico "borrowed" it, leaving a note to say he'd return it before the weather got to the point where it would be needed. Carrying all that back into the more abandoned sections of the school was a bit awkward, but doable enough.
Nico did have to stop at the door, however. It took both arms to manage what he was doing, and he didn't want to try phasing through the door in case he ended up destroying anything by accident. So he ended up thudding himself against the door a few times before calling out "It's me," in Spanish, just in case she couldn't recognize his voice as well. (Old habits).

Selina got right to work as soon as he left, soon getting lost in her work. It was boring and sometimes difficult. She definitely worked up a sweat, but she'd never objected to hard work. It wasn't like there wasn't going to be some good to come of it either. Selina had never been one to give much of a damn about pot, but she was actually looking forward to when these plants finished curing. Why? Probably because this would be the first time she'd done this for herself and not for an employer of sorts who had often worked her to the bone.
Selina jerked as something banged against the door, before getting up quickly opening it. She'd been slightly paranoid at the sudden loud noise, but when he'd spoken in the language she missed so fiercely, she'd immediately dropped what she'd been doing. When Selina saw that he had everything she grinned, "Wonderful," she praised him before grabbing a few of the items so things wouldn't be as awkward to carry. "Thanks for the help," she offered as she set the items down and finished cutting the leaves off of the last stalk, "Now we just need to hang these up in the closet, turn the space heater on and leave them alone for 3 days," she explained.
She glanced at Nico, "Let's just hope those construction workers aren't eager for a smoke," she said with a small laugh. "Or if they are, that they're wise enough to wait until it's done curing," she added with a wry grin.

Good, she looked nervous. Nico nodded at that, glad to know that Selina was at least taking this seriously. Not that he'd expected anything less from her, but still: you didn't want someone you were doing something illegal with to get too jumpy or nervous about this sort of thing. She'd caught the words and then was helping lighten the load, which had him letting out a "gracias" before he could really think about it.
"What happened to three weeks?" Nico asked, following. He was honestly a little confused there, wondering if the heater had messed things up or accelerated something or if he was just getting some mental wires crossed. All struck him as being very strong possibilities. Didn't stop him from letting out a noise somewhere between a grunt and a laugh as Selina talked about the workers taking a few tokes.
"Let's hope," he said. He began setting down some of the stuff he had in hand, getting things together. Wasn't difficult to figure out how this setup worked: you put the grass on the hangers, got them in the closet, and pointed the heater at them. Anyone could manage it, and Nico definitely counted as "anyone."
Post by Selina Taylor on Sept 18, 2015 23:22:28 GMT -6
Selina grinned at his question, "After three days, you trim the plants a second time and then you put them in airtight jars so they can finish curing for the rest of the three weeks. I should have been more specific," she added. She was more one for focusing on the big picture and sometimes small details missed her notice. Sometimes they were even large details, but she wasn't focusing on that right now.
As Nico started helping her, she smiled at him and quickly got started as well with putting the cut leaves in the shoe box after she melted down the ice she's used to trim the plant. Soon enough, the plants were in the closet and the space heater on. "I wish I had you back when I was doing this for pay," she admitted with a wry laugh. She glanced up at him then with an impish smile, "You know, I could have sworn we were going to do something after this, but I've completely forgotten."
Selina shrugged, "I suppose I'll see you around?" she asked, the light in her eyes bright with amusement.
