"No." Addison chuckled as she shook her head. She reached out and gave him a little playful punch for calling her a sell-out.
She shrugged when he began to give her kudos. "It was more an alignment of good luck. And an opportunity to do something that I loved." She grinned before biting into her sandwich.
"Hey, why don't you come over to my label and see how good a life sell-outs actually have." She teased. "We're always looking for new talents. And we could do more collaborations while we're at it."
Rob took the punch and laughed. the girl definitely had spunk; he had to hand it to her. He also knew full well the whole luck aligning with good talent. Rob was tempted to reiterate that you could be as lucky as you wanted, but if you didn't have enough to actually impress anyone it didn't do you a bit of good. However, she had offered him the tease that had him chuckling.
"Shouldn't you be listening to more of me first?" he pointed out, flicking a piece of his bread at her. "For all you know I could be a ruddy awful songwriter. I'm not," he bobbed his head, "but I could be. 'sides," he swished his drink for a moment, "you make a record and then you gotta go out on tour." He took a drink, swallowed. "You go on tour, you got to prepare the show. You prepare the show, you got to make a commitment and do some actual work. So kind of interferes with my basic policy of avoiding that."
He gave her another wink and took a bite of his sandwich.

Addison simply chuckled through Rob's explanation of why he might not be a good fit for her label. "Fair enough." She started.
"But I was only offering the chance to spend more time with me but if you don't think that's worth your time..." she shrugged and leaned back, faking a yawn.
Fair enough: Rob nodded along with that, glad that Addie got it to some degree. He'd already raised his sandwich back up for another bite, albeit wishing that he'd gotten something from a better joint that this: mall food wasn't exactly the best in the world. The sandwich had barely gotten within mouth range when Rob stopped. He'd stopped because of Addie's comment, which had him looking at her with an expression that varied between exasperation and appreciation.
"Sounds like you're bound and determined," he said, before lowering the sandwich. "Which sort of sparks my curiosity, it does. What makes you think that I'd be so good on recording? One little play session?" Rob chuckled and raised a brow, but he shifted his grip on the sandwich, instead reaching for his drink to take a quick swig before he continued.
"So if I agree, what would that all entail, exactly," Rob asked, looking over at her with raised brows, as amused by the whole circumstance as ever.

Truthfully, Addison did like Rob's sound. She also liked the way their voices meshed well. Him being a pretty decent-looking goofy charmer probably played a big part in his appeal, sure. But that didn't mean she would bend over backwards to get him on board. Although she had to admit, he would be a great addition to the label.
She shrugged at his question. "I don't. Which is why I need you in my soundbooth. To determine how good you are on record." She reasoned.
"Listen, I'm going to tell you straight on." She held one finger up to show her first point. "My label is always looking for new talent. Good or bad. If you end up being a bad apple, like good apple pickers, we will toss you into the waste basket." Addison gave him a small tight-lipped smile, though there was a hint of humour in her eyes.
She held up another finger and tilted her head to the side a little. "If we decide you make the cut, we'll get a few songs into one album, get it online somehow, see how you go over the demographic. With enough interest, we can get you on tour. I'm not saying it's a surefire way but it worked with me so far."
Well, this was something slightly different. Rob did not expect the pretty girl who'd joined him in playing in a mall to be giving him what amounted to "the sell." He'd actually heard the pitch a time or two, even getting the offer to get into a soundbooth. He could even recall hearing it from at least one musician and all. Addie even went with the whole 'Straight on, we're looking for talent," lines.
"So I'm a bad apple now?" Rob replied teasingly in between there. He fell silent as she tilted her head, continuing in her professional manner, talking about leaking him online (he nearly winced at that), and talking about something about touring. That last nearly made him wince: it was precisely what he didn't want to do.
However: "So," he leaned forward, "does all this mean I'd be spending more time with yourself?" Rob gestured at the girl. "Since you're the one taking interest and all. I'd assume you'd want me to record a duet with you too. Reckon we could even write one special," he grinned a puckish grin at that, his eyes dancing merrily.

"You were never a good one to begin with. Bad seed, bad soil, the whole shebang." Addison gesticulated jokingly. "But if I were in the business of dropping trou every time I hear a good sound, I'd be pantsless right now." Probably too much information but hey, if it sells.
Addison tried not to make her smirk too obvious and she shrugged at his question. "Maybe. You're gonna have to come over to find out."
She reached around to grab at her bag and pulled out her card, handing it over to him. "My personal number is at the back. I don't entertain nay-sayer's calls." She pointed at him before diving back into her sandwich, happy she might probably be getting another talent at her label.
Well, at least she was blunt. Strangely enough though, Rob had this queer feeling that he wasn't actually going to get this one to drop trou, or at least, not right away. Naturally that only made him all the more intrigued and determined to spend as much time as possible with this rather fetching thing.
"Sounds like I will then," Rob replied dryly as she commented about his coming by and figuring out. It wasn't as if he weren't going to be staying in this area for some time, what with wanting to get a free college degree under his belt and all. He took the offered card, flipping it over and looking at the number printed there. He flipped it back, already noticing that she was back at the sandwich.
"You are making yourself damn hard to figure out," he said, before flicking the card back in front of him. He reached for his sandwich, taking a rather hefty bite, using the food to buy himself some time to think, try and figure this out. Was he being seduced for his voice? Was she actually interested? And did it really matter which was the truth in the end, so long as he got what he wanted?

She smiled and nodded when it looked like Rob was down for the idea. Addison looked at Rob mid-bite with a slight head tilt. Was she that hard to figure out? Well, it wasn't like she wore her heart on her sleeve but when she wanted something, she thought she was pretty straightforward about it.
"Am I?" She asked before biting into her sandwich and chewing thoughtfully. "I'm pretty sure I've laid it all out pretty straight." She smiled lightly.
Rob kept looking at Addie for a while. Was he making this particular game more complicated than it needed to be? Somehow he could see that happening, and the thought made him chuckle. "Maybe I'm just the complicated one," Rob replied, waving a hand airily before picking up his sandwich. he adjusted his grip on it, taking another bite, considering the young woman before him again.
Strange how this had all turned out: just started by picking up a guitar and playing in the middle of a store. now he apparently had a record deal out of it. Funny how things like that worked out.
"So, am I special or do you just give record deals out to every handsome devil that flirts with you?" Rob asked, before reaching for his drink, taking a sip while studying Addie with raised brows.

Addison realised that Rob was staring at her so she made sure she wasn't looking in his direction. She really needed to learn how to be comfortable with someone staring at her. She was fine with a crowd but if it was just person, she could feel herself getting hives.
She chuckled lightly at his remark and she shrugged. "I am so not complicated." She replied through her chuckle. "I will say though, guy like you, practically wearing his heart on his sleeve," here, she pointed to his arm of tattoos. "You can't be that complicated." She continued before taking a sip of her drink.
"Record deal?" Addison shook her head in amusement. "This is an audition. A trial run. We just wanna see how well you mesh with us." She explained before smirking. "Handsome devils that flirt with me don't always get that far." She took the last bite out of her sandwich and wiped her mouth with the back of her hand. She chewed, swallowed and still Rob was looking at her. It was unsettling to say the least.
She finally relented and locked eyes with him. "You gotta stop staring. A girl could feel terribly self-conscious under those eyes of yours."
"An audition?" Rob replied, his eyes dancing with some merriment. "Maybe I should send in my demo tape. But I suppose if meshing's what you're interested in..." he trailed off. This was sounding even less appealing than he figured. Then again, as Addie put it, this wasn't a record deal: he wasn't tied to anything. Would spending a day in a studio with other musicians really be that bad? Certainly not: musicians happened to be Rob's favorite people.
And now she was meeting his eyes. "Sorry, can't help it," he said, holding up his hands in a gesture of combined apology and surrender. "Whenever an intriguing girl happens by, I just want to look until I figure her out. Add in the looks, and well," he gestured at Addie. "I'll just get back to my sandwich and stop making assumptions though. Bad brain," he gave his had a tap before looking down, almost looking like a berated child as he did so.

Addison looked at Rob curiously as he trailed off. Was she losing him already? She could never tell. Although it did help that he seemed distracted enough to start complimenting her again.
She finished up her drink and used her napkin to wipe the rim of the cup where she had sipped from before leaning back against her chair and crossing her arms over her chest. She was wondering if he was actually crushed or this was a part he was playing. Either way, it was amusing.
"You kinda remind me of someone I met a while back. Musician, indie label like me. He had talent by the barrel. Kinda squandered it on girls and booze. Given the opportunity, would you do that too?" She asked, one hand moving up to scratch the side of her neck.
