Quinn should probably argue that he was the kind to give up. When people discouraged him but also when they encouraged him. He just hated having people on his back too much. Photography remained something he was sticking to though. Even when the only interesting thing to photograph was the family when going out for vacation. It was his way to evade away from this world. He was not going to give up that easily. The dream of making a career of this however... Quinn could so often see himself trapped in the lamest, most boring job ever, letting it slowly suck his life away until he forgot what having fun meant.
For all those reasons, he preferred not to say anything to Jun as he encouraged him never to give up. It was best he said nothing. He didn’t want Jun to try to make him feel better. Or to simply give up on his idea of showing his work to some pros. Quinn didn’t necessarily mean to come out as distant, cold and cruel. It was more like a defense mechanism. Things seemed to hit you less when you treated them with disdain and moved on as if nothing was said at all. People tended to give up on hurting you since it never has the expected effect. It was just that, after doing this for so long, it became hard to be anything else. So now he was the distance, cold and sometimes cruel one.
Quinn nodded as Jun seemed certain they would meet again. Soon, even. Right after tucking his wings in, he let them out again. One thing for sure, that guy knew how to make an exit.
