Delilah nodded in interest, and slight excitement as Selina explained her power. Delilah was always grateful to find another mutant who could control partially the elements of the world. She didn't feel like she knew that many others for some odd reason, and it was slightly-- comforting to meet someone with elemental-based powers for some reason.
"That sounds really cool, and pretty useful," started Delilah as she took a drink of her coffee as the student finished her explanation. As Selina asked her about her powers, her eyes quickly widened in what couldn't really be separated from either a caffeine-rush, or excitement to share something about herself. Delilah quickly swallowed her mouth-full of coffee, and pushed an annoying strand of hair back into place.
"Well, it's honestly a weird hippie's dream power.. I can grow and control plant life, and sometimes I can even talk to plants." finished Delilah with a slight shrug, as she laughed at her explanation in her own head. She realized how crazy that must have sounded to someone who wasn't a mutant, or had any idea what she was talking about. Unsure how to further the conversation, Delilah slightly bobbed her head, nodding as she finished her explanation, as she darted her eyes across the room, catching a glance at the slightly-growing crowd stationed within the coffee house.

Selina nodded her agreement, “It’s a real lifesaver,” she responded with a wry grin. Literally, but this woman didn’t need to know that. She watched the woman in front of her with a lidded gaze as she took in the blonde’s naturally beautiful appearance with pleasure. Her eagerness and excitement to both share and listen was beyond cute and Selina enjoyed hearing her melodic voice.
“Speak with plants?” Selina asked in interest. “How do you mean?” She was curious more than anything, and her interest wasn’t solely platonic. The warm coffee and laid back atmosphere of the shop was contributing to her laid back attitude, and Delilah seemed somehow… different from the other teachers. Selina had a feeling this woman could use something of a break from all the stress of being a teacher during finals and the smirk that crossed her lips as she warmed up to the idea was not anything close to being innocent in nature.
“Though I imagine being able to speak with plants would be fascinating… There’s just something about interacting with other humans that can’t quite be imitated,” she offered with a smile. She would start this easy. Get an idea for the woman, and whether or not she’d even be interested. Selina wasn’t one to rush, especially since there was a storm raging outside and it didn’t look like Delilah had any pressing matters to attend to before the storm had let up.

Delilah listened to Selina in interest, as she began to ask questions about her powers. For some reason, Delilah took pride in her powers, and always loved providing insight to those who didn't really know about her abilities, or how they worked. "Yeah.. I know talking to plants sounds crazy.. It's really just more of, like.. Well I make physical contact with plants, and I can kind of sense their emotions and thoughts-- and they can sense and react to mine." retorted Delilah, with a slight shrug.
"It's not that useful, but it's a pretty fun party trick.. I guess it COULD be useful but, I haven't really had it save my life yet." continued Delilah, as she took yet another sip of her coffee-- and realized it was getting pretty empty. A couple of seconds passed of just silence, and couldn't help but get the instinct that Selina wanted to get to know her better-- and she was happy about this. Crossing her lips momentarily, Delilah looked out at the rain as it poured outside by the window, and tried her best to think of more conversation topics.
"I can't believe it's still raining.. and it doesn't seem to be slowing down."--"Maybe.. you can stop it with your power." joked Delilah.

Selina laughed, “All of our abilities sound crazy. I originally thought mutants were just… I don’t know. An exaggeration,” she admitted with a grin. “And actually your power makes more sense than some of the other things I’ve seen,” she added. It honestly made the woman seem more like a fairy or something… Selina almost laughed at the image of Delilah with paper wings that entered her head.
Selina shrugged in response to Delilah’s mention of relative usefulness, “Oh, I’m sure it has its benefits. Everything does, it’s just up to us whether or not we choose to take advantage of them,” she offered with a sly smirk. Perhaps there was more than one meaning to that, but she'd let Delilah take her statement however she wanted.
Selina laughed and shook her head, “Stopping the rain isn’t something I’ll try unless I’m feeling really suicidal,” she replied easily. “Although, I could probably make you an umbrella out of ice,” she thought out loud as she studied the woman. Should she really do this? Even if Delilah was a woman, she was still a teacher, and Selina knew better than most just how nasty power imbalances in relationships could turn out. Then again, Delilah was an art teacher and Selina would likely only have one more class with her, if any since she wasn’t majoring in the subject.
Selina glanced down at the woman’s empty coffee cup and smiled, “Would you like another? It’s on me,” she offered with a warm smile.

Delilah smiled as Selina continued to talk to her, obviously catching on and furthering her jokes that she made about her water powers and stopping the rain; as she nodded along with Selina, as she explained how Delilah's power made sense. For some reason, these words were really comforting and made Delilah feel like her powers were a bit more... important compared to other mutants at the Academy. This made her feel better about herself for some reason.
Delilah slightly smiled as she said her powers had usefulness, and how everything kind of had benefits. "Yeah, I suppose that's true." started Delilah, glancing down at her now-empty coffee cup. "Everyone has a purpose, I believe, we just have to find a supportive crowd of people to surround ourselves with." finished Delilah, kind of shocked at her own words.. She didn't expect to voice such a suggestive opinion directly to a student, but she just kind of decided to shrug it off.
"..That'd be nice, if you don't mind." started Delilah, looking down at her empty cup, feeling slightly guilty for having a student pay for her beverage-- but then again free coffee is free coffee, and she really had nowhere better to be.

Selina grinned at Delilah’s response, “And those people can often show up in the most surprising places,” she teased with a slightly suggestive hint in her tone. Sure, she went there. She would just make sure to not take classes with the woman. Selina may have been throwing caution to the winds, but not completely. Besides, Delilah would be in even more trouble than she would if they got caught. Selina wasn’t quite sadistic in regards to teachers… but maybe she was a little.
Selina smiled sweetly at the teacher, “But of course. Besides, it’s so dreary out, we need the coffee just to help us perk up a little,” she offered with a laugh. She went up to the counter and got them both more coffee before heading back to their table and setting the fresh steaming cup of coffee in front of the teacher. “It’s also rare for me to find such stimulating conversation in a coffee shop,” Selina admitted with a wink. Ok, maybe she was going a little too fast.
Selina absently noted to herself to slow down a little, so as not to scare off Delilah.
