Step One, Wake Up

At hearing that Vera had been a cheerleader, Devyn's attention had increased a bit more. Okay, well she had been all ears before but now she was all ears and then some. She should have guessed that Vera had done something like that and now that she thought of it she was pretty sure she saw her in a cheerleader uniform before. Still, overall Devyn missed out on the cheerleaders since she didn't really do or go near any sports. She probably should have considering how active she was but playing on a team just didn't always work with her loner style.

"You got any pictures of those cheerleader days?" Devyn asked as she glanced back at Erika, not trying to smirk too much. A group of girls in firm fitting clothing that was cut short? Hello, nice views right there. Devyn gave her a thumbs up when Erika said that she appropriated it. Devyn liked to help, especially those who were going on hard time. Erika clearly was going through them so Dev wanted to help her out. If one of the Bellefonte princess had been in a good mood and doing well then Devyn probably would have asked for her number and left it at that. However; with how Erika was right now, she wanted her to be happy.

As for keeping them talking while they moved, yeah that was the plan. They were out here to keep Erika distracted and to have some fun. That involved some moving and chitchatting, which also meant that Devyn got to learn a bit more about one of the family members of the Bellefonte family. "Do you know why you feel like that around them?" Devyn asked, then more importantly. "Is that why you won't hook me up with your number? Cause you feel awkward around me?" Devyn asked in a slight teasing manner. Hey, she was an animal on some levels because of her power so she wondered maybe that was why Erika seemed a bit on edge around her when they would talk in the past.

As for powers, Dev could understand not being able to pick one because there were a lot and some of them were really cool. The question was turned back on her as she ducked under the branch while she shoved the urge to climb trees down. "Mmm...well baby animals I'm fine with but big animals tend to be on edge or afraid of me. As for powers, I a big fan of the mental based powers. Like uh...the ones where things are being moved without people touching them. Plus my own." Devyn admitted with a slight chuckle.

Quirking her brows in amusement, Erika laughed. "I'm sure there's some in one of the yearbook," she replied. After all, the cheerleaders were popular among the student body, much thanks to the skimpy outfits they wore. They got a lot of attention, and she wouldn't be too surprised if some creep out there had ran around taking pictures of them either during rehearsals or games. It was public, after all, and they couldn't exactly pay attention to the bleachers while doing their routines.

"I don't," she said, smiling slightly. Laughing again at the next question, Erika's head shook. "No," she replied. One, she wasn't interested in the girl like that, and she'd come off awfully strong. Second, Erika usually had her hands full with her boyfriend - the first time around it had been the whole drama surrounding Everett and Felix, and now it was Drew. Erika had never been the casually flirting or dating around kind of gal, so the numbers accepted were few.

Oh, so the girl liked telekinesis, huh? She supposed she could use that to her advantage. Letting her power move forward, it graced against the ground before finally picking up a few rocks and letting them hover in the air. Smirking slightly, Erika shrugged. "Like that?" she asked, tossing the girl a quick glance. The stones dropped against the ground again and she pulled her ability back.

"I meant like more so the kind the people on the team take of themselves or the team. Not the official ones, officials ones don't have all the good angles." Devyn said, chuckling. She of course was half teasing, not really wanting Erika to bring her scandalous pictured of the cheerleaders. If Erika was cool with doing such a thing, Devyn was not going to turn them down but she didn't really want her to do it. While Devyn was a hardcore flirt, most of the time she was just playing, and having a little fun then she was trying to get something out of someone.

Flirting tended to be a great ice breaker or at the very least could get someone chuckling at the things you were saying. "Mmm, interesting." Devyn said in response to Erika not knowing why she felt weird around animals. Nothing wrong with it and Dev was fine dropping that matter and moving right along with their conversation. When Erika said no to her next question, Dev could not help but to chuckle. "So my flirt skills are weak, too strong, you are not into girls, or I'm just not your type then. Huh?" Devyn asked.

"You know just cause I want your number does not mean I'm looking for a booty call, right? I just kind of wanted bragging rights to be all 'I got Erika Bellefonte's number. You are one of the kids in the family that built this school." Devyn informed her. That was really all there was to it when it came to asking for the number. Anything extra was just a bonus. When Erika showed her power, Devyn could not help but to have a huge smile take over her face as she gave a few claps. "Yes like that. I don't know why but I just think it's so damn cool. Just lifting stuff up with your mind, had to be a pain to train with as a kid and just even maintaining the focus to keep things lifted." Devyn said.

She really did have a lot of respect for those with mental based powers; hers was a bit of both a mental and physical one. It was just cool. That was all she really could do to describe her enjoyment out of those who could do things with their mind. It also made her feel like she could beat them in a fight power to power, but that was another story.

"Ahhh," she said, chuckling. "I think you should ask Vera for those yourself." She smirked slightly at that. She figured that was the whole reason the girl was asking, after all. She wondered briefly if Devyn had a crush on Vera or what, though even if she did, Erika could hardly blame the girl. She could easily enough support such a relationship, after all. Both the girls were nice and wonderful people, and she wanted both love and happiness for them both, even if that meant with, or without one another.

Laughing, Erika's head shook slightly. "I'm taken," she winked at the girl. Oh, Erika was into girls, alright, what with being pansexual and all, but that was hardly what stopped her. She was madly in love with her boyfriend, despite the turbulence. She wasn't interested in expanding either, and she was quite happy sticking to her boyfriend and just her boyfriend.

"Well, I'm sure plenty of rumors would come from that," she grinned. All in all, Erika didn't mind, and it wasn't like her number wasn't easy to get or something, but the manner of which the girl had asked for it, implied that she didn't have purely innocent intentions. Now, she didn't distrust the girl, but still. It was suggestive, if nothing else. The conversation turned back towards her power and the telekinetic issued a low laugh. "I can see that," she agreed. "But I'd say it's the same with every power. They all require some training and working with." Every power was different, after all.

"Why just her? Have to get the scoop from all of the cheerleaders." Devyn pointed out as she chuckled a little on the matter. Yeah, she liked Vera a lot but she liked a lot of girls and guys and if they were not tied into something then she didn't see the point in focusing on one person alone. Devyn was not the type to rush into things, because relationships were complicated and she just felt the longer you took in them the better things would turn out in the end. Then again, she was not very good on the relationship track record, but she was sticking to her guns on sill being a free bird while she was a free bird.

"Pfft, I know that. When are you not?" Devyn responded back, finding the little wink cute. She had been at the school long enough to now that Erika played on both teams and also to know of Erika's track record. Not that she was going to fault the girl for any of it, because to each their own in the ways of love, sex, and relationships. So long as Erika was happy with how things were in her life and she was not hurting masses amount of people in a very bad way then Devyn honestly didn't care. She still wanted them digits either way but it didn't seem like she was going to be getting them even with pointing out that she was not looking for anything besides the fact to have them.

"Didn't think you were the kind of girl that cared about what the rumors said." Devyn said, as she looked at Erika. She supposed everyone had a point in where words would start to bother them, but she was not certain. Erika never really showed like she cared and from what rumors said the girls still went about things the way she wanted. Power to her. "Yeah, you are right. I still can't help but to like that kind of power better." Devyn said as she climbed up the side of a boulder that was in the way and also part of the path. She held a hand out for Erika to take so they could keep moving forward. They would get to the top in no time at the rate they were going.

Falling silent, Erika simply stared at the girl for a moment. Her lips parted, as if she was about to say something, but quickly shut again as she decided against it. Instead, she simply shrugged her shoulders. If anything, she was sure the pictures were located in one of the yearbooks in the library - or they could always be located in the archive.

Erika frowned slightly at the comment Devyn delivered. She figured the girl meant no harm with it, but that didn't mean it didn't feel like some kind of low blow. She didn't say anything though, instead, she simply smiled and shrugged the comment off. She supposed Devyn hadn't meant to offend, and in truth, she wasn't offended. Not really. She knew it was one of those things she'd just have to get used to.

"I don't," she said. "But that doesn't mean I want to create more of them." She didn't care. She never had. But that didn't mean she was about to go out there and create a scene or attract attention she didn't need nor want. "Each to their own, I suppose." She smiled at Devyn as she continued onward. She looked up towards the sky, brows furrowing slightly. "We should start thinking about heading back. It's getting rather late."

Devyn looked over her shoulder towards Erika when the other girl didn't say anything and she could feel her looking at her. Perhaps she had said something wrong? "It's not like I have a goal to sleep with all of them or anything like that. It's more of a...I don't know really." Devyn said with a small chuckle and a shrug of her shoulders. Sometimes she did ask for things just for the sake of asking to see what the answer would be. She didn't really plan to far ahead with things being the sort of spur of the moment kind of person.

Devyn just left it at that and then felt bad then when she saw the frown on Erika's face. Just great, her record of messing things up still lived to this day. She did not mean it to be an insult or anything, it was just a fact. For as long as Devyn had been at the school, she had known Erika to either be with someone or if she was single how she quickly got scooped up. Nothing wrong with that, to each their own how they went about relationships and things like that. "Sorry if that offended or anything didn't mean it to. I need to work on my thinking before speaking." Devyn admitted as she scratched at her neck and looked down towards the ground for a moment.

"I could understand that. I'll watch what I say and do around you a bit better from now one. If we are ever around one another again." Devyn said with a small nod. She could see her and Erika hanging out again, but probably not a lot. The girl didn't really seem like the type that would mesh awesome with Devyn, but not everyone worked well with everyone. Simple as that. Dev was just happy that she had been able to get Erika's mind off of whatever had been bothering her, at least for a little bit...she assumed. Devyn looked to the sky when Erika pointed out the time, which did remind her that not everyone could see in the dark so Erika probably didn't want to just hand out here however late it got.

"Darn, we are so close to the top. Can we get to the top real quick and then I'll give you a ride down? Unless you don't feel comfortable ridding a giant shadow beast, then we can head out then." Devyn said. Part of her always wanted to give someone a ride; not in her jaws, in her other form. Of course, not many were willing to do such a thing so she waited for Erika to give her the way or nay for if they were going to be going forward or turning back.

"It's quite alright," Erika said with a smile. After all, she hardly thought the girl would say something like that with the intentions of being mean. In truth, she was just sick of hearing about that damn blog. She hardly felt as if it mattered anymore. She for one, was ready to move forward and forget the blog even existed to begin with.

Erika paused at the suggestion and she frowned slightly. "I'd rather not," she spoke with a sheepish smile. As much as she wanted to go to the top, she didn't see herself riding a shadow wolf. After all, she was awkward enough around animals as it was and even if she knew the girl wasn't really an animal, it still felt really weird to her to be riding her as if she was some kind of horse.

Jerking her thumb over her shoulder, Erika offered the girl an apologetic smile. "We'll reach the top next time," she promised. She didn't mind being around the girl and would gladly go on another hike with her if the opportunity ever rose.

Devyn relaxed a little and even smiled when Erika assured her that it was alright. She really didn't want to upset the girl or make things go bad between the two of them when she was just trying to help the other girl out. She probably brought up things that were part of why Erika was upset in the first place but she was not sure. Honestly, Devyn didn't know why she still paid that stupid blog any attention when it had brought her nothing but trouble. Sure there was some truth to the things that were said on there but not always in the right context.

Plus Dev was never going to forget the certain people that were on her black list and were best to stay away from her for the rest of their lives but such thoughts remained tucked away. A small chuckle escaped Devyn's lips as Erika pointed out that she didn't really want to ride Devyn in beast form to the bottom of the mountain. She could understand and respect that so was not going to force the girl to. "Darn, one of these days I'm going to have to find someone willing to try it." Devyn said as she snapped her finger.

That meant they were going to have to head back now with Devyn feeling disappointed that they did not make it to the top. There was a promise of a next time that Dev was not really sure if Erika would really be up for it. The other girl did seem nice and like she didn't mind hanging around Devyn but this was still someone that didn't really seem like the type to 'run with Dev's crowd' or something like that. "Alright, you just let me know when you are up for it and we can." Devyn said as she turned and started to head back down the mountain. More than likely she was going to come back here by herself that same day to get to the top because it was going to eat at her until she did.

She would keep in mind what Erika said about them doing it again some other time but was not going to force it and headed down the mountain while keeping an eye on the other girl to make sure she didn't fall. It had been an overall good day and Dev hoped that she had at least helped Erika feel a little better.

Chuckling softly, Erika looked at the other girl with light amusement. "You should try putting up flyers," she suggested with a light shrug. After all, there had to be someone willing to try, though she could certainly understand why some people would shy away from it and it wasn't just because the concept of riding an animal was odd to her, but simply because technically, you weren't riding an animal, but another human being. It seemed awfully odd, thinking about it, didn't it?

"Alright," Erika replied with a smile. She placed her hands at the rim of her pants and let her shoulders slump slightly as she started down the road back towards the academy.

Even Erika had to admit that the trip had been nice, even if they hadn't gotten to the top, but she supposed that that wasn't really the point of it all. After all, this was all to get her mind onto something else. The trip down continued in the same fashion as the trip up had, with light conversation.

Erika couldn't wait to get back to take the longest bath she'd likely ever take.
