Chuckling softly, Lucy's head tilted. "Sorry, my bras nor my boobs are big enough to contain the amount of alcohol needed to survive this trip." But man, wouldn't that have been wonderful? It sucked, the simple fact that these people actually checked their bags. She understood the reason, of course, but that didn't make it any better. She wanted nothing more right now, than getting out of her mind drunk and just spend the next few days not knowing what the hell went on.
Sadly, that wasn't going to happen. Sure, she could get high and all, but this weed only did so much.
Looking back over at the girl, Lucy's eyes narrowed slightly at the question. She supposed it made sense, that this would be a topic people talked about. That didn't mean Lucy didn't want to avoid it as much as she could. After all, she hated being a mutant, and hated having a power even more. "Power mimicry," she said, pursing her lips. "And sensing, or something," she shrugged. She had little control over her ability, and even less need to actually try bettering herself.
"You?" she asked. She'd sensed the girl's power, but she couldn't say she particularly recognized it, which meant that it wasn't a power she was used to being around. She'd found it being much easier identifying powers she actually knew.

Selina laughed and shook her head, “Too bad. What I wouldn’t give for some pisco,” she admitted. God, the Chilean whiskey was so good and was one of the things she missed most. Selina glanced at Lucy and smiled, “I suddenly want the ability to turn water into wine, or whiskey,” she added with a grin. Free alcohol, anywhere, anytime. Damn. She’d probably kill for that.
Selina absently noticed Lucy’s change in demeanor and wondered if it was a touchy topic. But Lucy answered simply enough, so Selina merely decided not to pry further. “I can manipulate water. Freeze it, boil it, that type of thing. Useful for cooking sometimes,” she offered with a wry grin in response to Lucy’s question. It was true, but she didn’t often use her ability for domestic purposes. "Though, since I still can't figure out how to convert it into alcohol, it's relatively useless."
Selina didn’t often use her ability at all really. The only times she ever thought to were when she was training specifically to gain better control, or in extreme situations. Selina occasionally used her ability to freeze water into mini tools, like screw drivers, but it was rare that she thought of manipulating water for any reason other than self-defense. A result of a lack in imagination perhaps, or merely because of how her power had manifested, she wasn’t sure. Selina only knew that the side-effects weren’t often worth it, so she stayed away from using her mutation as much as she possibly could.

"I know a guy," she said, her head tilting. "Not someone who can turn water into whiskey, but that would be able to get you whatever you want." She stared out at the lake. She wasn't about to share any names. Not yet, anyways. She knew that Drew probably wouldn't be overly pleased if he found out that she ran around sharing his contact information with whoever. The girl seemed chill enough of course, so she could probably get the two of them together sometimes.
She turned her head and looked at the girl, nodding slowly at her words. A water manipulator? That explained why she hadn't recognized the girl's power. She supposed that she would from now on, now that she knew how it felt like. Sometimes, her power sensing was a great way to avoid certain people. "I'm sure there's someone on campus who can teach you." It wasn't that impossible, was it? Just change a few things here and there, and voila.
And yes, she was fully aware that she, Lucy James, who knew nothing about powers was the one who said such a thing. Clearly, the girl shouldn't take her word for it. Then again, it wasn't as if Lucy strove to learn more about her or other abilities. In fact, she already skipped out on most of her training sessions.

Selina grinned, “Sounds useful,” she offered with laugh. “Such a rare trait to find in a man these days,” she added with a smirk. Selina was only really interested in the alcohol that she could get from him. Getting drunk or tipsy every once in a while… or more was one of the ways she coped with life and it was just a nice commodity to have on hand when days got bad.
She didn’t rely on it per se, it was just one of those things that helped her get through the darker periods. She did the same thing with chocolate and sex, so she figured that it was just a normal part of figuring out how to get through this life without getting sucked under. Selina glanced at Lucy and shrugged, “Possibly, but the way I figure it. Turning water to alcohol would probably be a complicated process involving a lot more effort than it’s worth. I’m way too lazy to mess with that shit when I can just buy it.”
Besides, she wasn’t entirely sure if it was quite as possible as Lucy seemed to think. “Either way, it doesn’t help me now,” she finished with a shrug. She would have to live through this week sober… and she was so not looking forward to it.

"If there ever was a good trait to find in a man to begin with," she said, eyes rolling. Now, it was easy to say, given how cynical she was. After all, Lucy didn't have her "me against the world" mentality without reason. She would never, ever be that girl who grew dependent on anyone, let alone some stupid guy.
"Exactly," she said, shrugging.
Pursing her lips, Lucy had to give it to the girl; she was right. It didn't help either of them right now. Oh, what she'd give for a bottle of anything that could just make all of this go away, if only for a short moment. Sadly, neither of them seemed to be that lucky, and she somehow doubted that anyone had managed to smuggle in anything worth their time.
Pushing herself up, Lucy brushed off her clothes and stretched her arms above her head. "Well, I'm going to go for a walk and hope a bear comes out of nowhere to eat me," she said, shrugging her shoulders. Now, if only she could be that lucky. With that, Lucy offered the girl a quick nod and turned on her heel.
