Vesper thought to better explain the details at hand, but in that moment she went along with the silence offered. Selina told her not to mind, and as far as she was concerned, it was enough of a signal to leave the path as it were. At least for now. Had time persisted, they might venture back towards the mutual point. She let it settle as it were.
"The difficulty with your situation lies in the way the human mind works." Vesper began, easing herself out of her comfortable sitting position in order to lean forward. Hands still pressed together, arms still to the arm rests all the same. "In the battle of he-said she-said, the seemingly lesser minded individual has the deck stacked far to highly against them."
As she likely knew. After all, look at her situation.
"I see memories. From yesterday or years ago. Provided your permission, I can help clear some of the repercussions you're carrying." Because as it were, she had to believe this girl was telling the truth about her situation.

Selina let out a harsh laugh at Vesper’s information, “Tell me about it.” Lesser minded. Selina barely kept down a shudder at the memory of just how hard that particular ideal had worked against her. Lesser disciplined. Lesser morals. Lesser importance. Lesser intelligence. She knew it too damn well by now. Selina was so focused on her own memories that she almost missed what Vesper said next.
Selina glanced up at Vesper with a guarded hope. Could this woman really do that? To have her name cleared after all these years… It would be such a relief. Maybe there would even be the chance of that bastard finally reaping the consequences. Maybe he’d be prevented from harming another young girl… Selina stopped short as she fully comprehended what allowing this woman into her head could possibly mean.
There might not be a way to control what it was that Vesper saw. Selina had repressed those memories as far as she could because the shame, the disgust, the feeling of being dirty… but it would all be dragged back up again for the sake of this potential voyeur. This utter and complete invasion of privacy… and for what?
Why couldn’t her word be taken for what it was without this retraumatization? Why should she have to go to such lengths to prove herself to someone who may or may not truly be able to or be willing to help her? Besides, who was to say that her own memories wouldn’t be used against her? Would she still be blamed even if the truth came out? Why should she have to relive her own personal hell for some vague hope that she might not be treated like shit?
Selina’s expression went cold as she shook her head, “No. You’ll just have to take my word for it, like all the others. And if that’s not good enough,” Selina shrugged, “Then my situation remains the same.” To allow herself hope at all was foolishness, and she should really have figured that out by now.
