Looking For A Specialist

Seiji really hoped that he was saying all of this in a way that made sense. Hell, he was going to be teaching a class about this kind of thing much later in the future. At least, that was what he had planned for himself in order to be of even more help to the student body. He didn't know if he would be able to pull it off but he wanted to try. Anything to help him get out there more in order for kids to be aware that he was there and was able to help him. All they had to do was literally reach out to him. Or they could wait until things got bad and he was called or sent to them, that worked as well but he honestly preferred to be approached then to be the one doing the approaching.

"That is correct. That is how come in some cases say you had two children but only one comes into their power. The two of them would have the gene within them; it just does not always become active and basically looks like any other DNA strand out there." Seiji explained. It was genius how something like a DNA strand could blend in and appear normal for so long until it became after or if it remained dormant. That was the hard part of the test, being able to tell if the gene was going to become active or not. He was sure his test would work; he just had not been able to actually test it because of ethical reasons among other things.

Seiji smiled just a little bit when she pointed out that she asked and while she didn't get all of it, she got some. That was good, so that meant that he at least had a chance of being able to explain it to others. He was going to work on it for sure, find a way to explain it in a simple and short way so not to bore everyone with all of his talking. "Oh, I planned to go there. Sure I could send someone over there to do it on my behalf and make sure they bring the proper equipment to ensure the samples get here safely and in good condition but I figured you would want someone you know doing such a thing." Seiji answered her.

He was fully prepared and up for making the trip if it meant helping her out and it would also allow him to give it a test. Her next comment had him nodding in agreement. "Right, this would have to be your call since it is your son. Just know the offer is there if you would like it." Seiji informed her. He was not going to push the matter and did want her to think of it. He was sure there were no risk to the test, but anything was possible at times. He smiled at her once more, letting her know without saying anything more that he was there to help.

“I see...” she repeated as he agreed with her and gave some more explanation on the matter. It must be hard on a child though. Her parents were normal, or at least, if she followed Seiji’s logic, their mutant’s gene was dormant while it activated in her. She knew what it was like to be different by having something more, but she just now considered the fact she could have been different by having something less. It cannot be easy either. “That must make your job harder then. It’s one thing to know it’s there but can you tell it will be active before it does?” Because, otherwise, it brought another question: did everyone had it in them, lying dormant for who knows how long until it activated for one reason or another?

She had no idea he wanted to teach that stuff but had she known, Tamara would have assured him he was doing a good job. After all, those who’d take his class would have more notions of science than she did. School seemed like such a long time ago. And she never went to college. She didn't think it was important for her. “You planned to go in Serbia?” she asked with clear disbelief in her voice. Maybe he meant he planned to go to St Cadou in Transylvania. It was not all that far away. He then said something that sure spoke to her. She would prefer someone she can trust to come to her parents’ and do tests on her son. “I’d prefer even more to be there as well, of course, but things don’t always go as you wish them to,” she replied. It had been much too long since she’d seen him. Only once since she started working here, as she was not counting Skype. Really not enough for any mother’s heart.

“I’ll keep that in mind,” she assured him once he agreed it was her call. It was funny though, how this guy looked at her, ready to help her when she didn’t even ask for him to. She also remembered how, at first, she felt like he was the one who might need the help of someone like her. Or, at the very least, could have used her help when he was a student. She couldn’t help the feeling she should help getting him out of his lab. “Remind me to keep in touch with you for more than just helping out a student.”

Seiji just gave a small nod, letting her take in all the information, and work on understanding it. If she had questions he figured she would ask them and in return he would answer them. He didn't want to keep taking up too much of her time and he certainly didn't want to talk her ear off with information she probably didn't want to know. At her comment he was nodding his head yes about how it made his job difficult. It did indeed, especially since he had not been able to fully test out his theory on actual human beings so all of this could have been wrong. Yet, he had tested it out on the computer and did a lot of observation of a lot of mutants to know for sure that his theory had to work.

"In theory yes. Again I have not been able to actually test it on anyone before they came into their powers but hopefully there were be mutants who will want their child tested and then I can branch out to those with one mutant parent or not mutant parents at all." Seiji informed her. While the gene didn't actually appear in everyone, it did appear in everyone that had at least one mutant in their blood line, and then it just came down to a few other factors if the gene would become active or not. there were even cases where a person could have no mutant gene in their family at all and it show up, which just meant he had more testing, but again the latter was a theory and not fully confirmed just yet.

He nodded then once more at her question on if he planned to go to Serbia. "If that is where your son is, yes. Have to go where he is if I want to be able to take samples from him...with your permission of course." Seiji pointed out to her. All of this still hinged on if she was okay with it or not because he was not going to do it without her say so. "I could take you with, if you wanted. It would be no trouble on my end." Seiji added when she voice how she honestly would want to go. He actually thought that would be the best idea, since it would mean that child at least would not be terrified and just having to take Seiji's word that he had been sent by the boy’s mother.

She said she would keep it in mind and with one more nod, Seiji left it at that. He didn't want to pressure her into it and would let her give him the yay or nay whenever. Sure it would benefit him and mutants as a whole by a lot if he was allowed to do the test, but at the end of the day he had to follow the law. Well, he wanted to follow the law, even if it was tempting to break it in order to achieve what needed to be done in order to get anywhere with science. "I will, but only if you want to. I understand that you have things to do and that I'm not all that entertain, but I would be up for it." Seiji said as she then stood up and extended out his hand. "I should let you get back to work and I should return to my office in case anyone is looking for me." Seiji spoke up.

It would take some time for Tamara to fully understand everything they’ve been talking about and she knew there would still be a lot she wouldn’t get. She was not as passionate as Seiji was about all this. She was fine with it though, for that very reason. She had no idea for how long they’ve been talking of this and it certainly would require some moment of reflection on her part to make she got it all and the effects it could have. It was tempting to just tell Seiji to jump in the next plane and test her son. At the same time, there was still the fear he would be ‘normal’, like her parents. If so, she still wanted him around of course. He was her son and the distance was gnawing at her heart. But it would not be the same and she needed time to weigh the pros and cons before taking a decision. It was something she rarely do, being rather impulsive in her own actions. But it was important this time that she did.

“Ah. So that’s why the mention of my son interests you.” She didn’t say that like it was a bad thing. She merely pointed out why having a boy with a mother who was a mutant could interest him in his research. She was not holding it against him or anything. After all, it might also be to her advantage. She laughed as he was already ready to head to the airport and fly off to Serbia, with her if necessary. “Easy now. I think I will need some time to consider this first,” she told him before he would go and buy plane tickets for them. “Although the idea of seeing an Asian boy in that little town is rather amusing in itself. Don’t take it the bad way, it’s just so small a town that I don’t know if they’ve ever seen one other than on television.” She didn't want to make it appear like they were all racists in her hometown, but it was rather small and on the countryside. He would stick out like a sore thumb.

Seiji did seem like not the most entertaining person but she would not claim he was boring or anything. She was not like him, her work was not her passion and she didn’t try to be the best and know the most about it, just be as good as she can be. That was enough. There was something about him though that sort of made her want to watch over him. Not as a mother or anything. Perhaps more as a wingman. Show him the real life, outside the lab and all. That was silly and she doubted it would happen but she still let out that it could. “Yes, right,” he said as he pointed out he should return to said lab. “And that sub of yours must be calling out your name right now. Sorry again for calling out to you during your lunch break and thanks for helping out,” she said as she shook his hand, keeping an eye on the snake.

"Yes, I mean I do wish to be able to help you out but I can't sit here and lie that is the only reason. It would help out me and fellow mutants to be able to do such a test, so I have multiple motives." Seiji admitted. He didn't want to lie to her and seem like some angle from above when there were other reasons for what he was doing. Yes, the largest reason was because he wanted to be of help to her and her son but there were secondary reasons. There always were, if the secondary ones were not always so important or would have an effect on someone other than him. Seiji was selfless but he did have his moment when he was selfish, it just tended to work out his selfish worked out well with his selfless nature.

He chuckled slightly when she basically was telling him to calm down and not be ready just yet. He could understand that and was quick to calm down and not get too far ahead of himself. Seiji honestly was not going to do anything until she gave him the okay but that didn't mean that he could not get ready in case she did indeed say yes. He honestly thought maybe she would end up saying yes at some point because it would allow her to visit her son who he figured she had to miss being so far away from him. "I would be fine with it. I have been a lot of places that they don't really see an Asian American. Even in America some places I go I get weird looks." Seiji pointed out with a smile.

He really was not bothered by the looks; he had to deal with them and the whisper for far too long to be really bothered by them too much. He didn't care about what the people thought of him when and if Tamara allowed him to go with her. He only cared about being help to his fellow mutants and furthering along his test so it could be used wide-spread one day to help out his fellow mutants even more. He felt like he had talked off her ear enough now and did have to get back to his work. He honestly forgot about his sandwich until she was bringing it up which had his eyes widening a little. "I completely forgot about it, thank you for reminding me." Seiji said as he shook her hand and then went to run off.

Leevi wanted to lick her hand but Seiji moved too quickly for him to get a chance. He would try again next time. "Bye Tamara, I hope to see you around and you consider my offer." Seiji called out as he basically scampered off.
