Jason would not try to force Rob to become a healer. He was the best placed to know the limitations of their powers, and the terrible side-effects it had on them. Some people couldn’t care less. It was the sad truth of the universe. You could die for all they cared, so long as their loved one was alive. If it was a life for a life matter, they were ready to force your hand at it. And even if Rob, by chance, was not to meet someone like this in his life, he would always have this question at the back of his head, nagging him: could he have saved this person? Even as a doctor, Jason was confronted to this question from time to time, if you added the healer part, that made it worse. If that boy didn’t want in, Jason would not blame him.
“Oh, no doubt about it, and not only because they think it’s best we don’t know,” Jason agreed with Rob. Wasn’t it what most governments did anyway? Hide certain details as they would be better not being mentioned or no one really cared about it in the end. Surely if you asked, they would explain how they can sense when someone got their power, but Jason didn't exactly feel the need to know. He was not interested in going after kids around the world and tell them they were mutants who should go to a special school to learn how to control their gifts. The best he was ready to do was go to help whoever they might have accidentally injured when it happened and he didn’t need to know how they found them for that.
He had a little smile when Rob decided it was too heavy of a topic to keep talking of it. He was fine with that as he didn't even think he would talk this long with him in the first place. He chuckled though as to what he asked of Jason. “I’m not sure if we have the same hunting ground though,” he pointed out. Unless Rob was into cougar or believed Jason was into the younger ones. “We’ve got a couple of clubs that might offer you better choice than here,” he assured Rob, turning to look at the small crowd that seemed to be essentially made of men. “I’m sure you can get more of them by saying you’re an artist though.”
