It was a gorgeous sunny day and Selina had hiked up a mountain near the school. It was a slow steady climb, but not very difficult and the view of Kalispell stretched out below her with further mountains in the distance was amazing. The temperature was a low 50 degrees and just perfect for exercising without getting too hot. Selina went through a slow set of striking techniques to warm herself up, focusing intently on technique and perfect form. The slower pace was taxing in and of itself and helped her to build her endurance.
Selina closed her eyes as she went through her forms, a guttural shout piercing the air in front of her with every strike. She could finally let loose and be as loud as she wanted since no one else was around, and she quite enjoyed the feeling and the power behind each movement that was embedded within each outcry. As she got to more and more advanced techniques, sweat beaded down her forehead and the sun started to feel hot on her back.
She smiled and paused to take a drink before switching to basic karate katas. Since joining the self-defense club, she’d been determined to pick up something else as well, and karate had appealed to her. Selina went over each motion so many times she lost count, taking a fierce sort of joy in her precision and control. She paused as she thought she heard someone and turned searching the clearing for anything out of the ordinary, “Hello?” she called out in curiosity.

Wax had been getting used to his new home and decided to take some time and go into the mountains and relax a bit. It had been to long since he had changed into his wolf form and just ran and that is what he wanted to do more then anything. He made his way up the mountain, taking his time to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. Once he was sufficiently far away from the school he stopped and took in a deep breath threw his nose, taking in all the scents of the mountains. He pulled off his shirt and was about to remove the rest of his clothing so he could change when he heard something.
A yell came from somewhat near by. If he had not been paying attention he may have missed it. It sounded more like an aggressive one then a frightened one so Wax decided he would approach with caution just in case. He slowly crept threw the forest towards the sound, ducking into some bushes to peek at who or what was making the noise. He saw a girl, practicing some kind of martial arts and really getting into it. He just watched for a few moments, liking how the forms looked then decided he would show himself so he didn't seem like a creeper.
He took a step forward and a twig snapped under his barefoot. When she looked up at him he gave her what he hoped looked like a friendly smile and a small wave, forgetting he still had his shirt and shoes off. "Hello, sorry if I startled you. I was around and heard some shouting so I decided to see what it was." He tilted his head slightly after that in a very canine type of gesture and examined the woman closer. After a few silent moment he realized he had not introduced himself. "Oh... sorry. I'm Wax."

Selina examined the man in front of her with equal interest, and no shy modesty hindered her wandering gaze as she studied him. She was wearing her typical workout gear of loose black pants and a black sports bra, so they were on roughly equal footing anyway. Literally, Selina thought as she briefly glanced down at her bare feet. “Don’t worry about it,” she offered with a smile, “And sorry if I alarmed you with my shouting,” she added. She’d never met anyone when she’d come up here before, so she was slightly intrigued by his appearance. Selina grinned at his introduction and nodded, “I’m Selina.”
Selina grabbed her water bottle and took a quick drink, “Can I ask what brings you out this way?” she asked as she stretched the muscles in her back. In her typical routine she stretched for an hour or two after working out, but today she thought the long walk down the mountain would be enough of a cooling off period. There was also a clean creek nearby that she was highly tempted to check out. It would likely be a bit chilly from the melting snow, but cold water never bothered her and swimming was a fun way to wash off the sweat.
She needed a long break away from everything that was Kalispell, and so she was going to enjoy every moment she had out here. The town just got so damn suffocating after a while. She felt like a small part of her soul had been restored already, and it was barely noon. She cast Wax a second glance and decided that having company certainly wouldn’t be a bad thing if he decided he wanted to stay.

Wax couldn't help but raise an eyebrow when he felt her gaze wander over him. Now that they were both introduced and Wax knew the screaming was from training and not something that would want to kill him he walked up to a more conversational distance, after all, talking at each other from across a clearing was a bit awkward, but maybe that was just him. "I wasn't alarmed so much as curious, I have not been here long and was just curious if there was some new kind of vicious animal in these woods." he said with an obviously joking and teasing smile. He offered his hand when she introduced herself. "Pleasure to meet you."
When asked why he was up here he gave a small smile. "I came up here to run and maybe hunt a little. I spent a lot of time cooped up in a plane and I needed the wide open spaces to help me relax." He was curious what her reaction would be to him mentioning hunting. People tended to react extremely different to it from his past experiences. A lot of the time people seemed to get very cautious of hesitant when he mentioned it but he didn't think that was how she would respond. "I also prefer up here to going to town. I have not been to the one by the school yet but I assume it is about the same as any other."

Usually when men got closer, Selina’s first reaction was to tense, but she was out in her own element and nothing scared her here. So Selina laughed when he mentioned a wild animal, “Perhaps there is, but I promise not to bite… this time,” she answered with a grin as she reached out to shake his hand, “We’ll certainly see, won’t we?” she asked, her tone still light and teasing. She was feeling good today and he seemed decent enough for a shirtless mountain man.
When he told her he’d come to hunt, her interest was piqued, “I’ve never been hunting before, but it sounds like fun though,” she admitted. She’d always lived in the center of Santiago, and there was never much time or incentive to go out to hunt. Now that she was further in the country than she’d ever been, she was curious to try something new. The idea of physical exertion being rewarded with a more tangible result was enticing to her.
The other information finally infiltrated her brain and she paused as she studied him, “You’re new around here then,” she thought aloud, and she’d noticed how he mentioned the school, so he was very likely another student. “Well, welcome to Kalispell, I suppose,” she offered half-heartedly. Kalispell wasn’t exactly her first choice of places to live, but it had offered her a refuge from Chile, so she tried not to be too antagonistic towards the place.

The playful nature of Selina wasn't exactly what he was expecting after seeing her martial arts display and he gave her a wolfish grin when she made the comment about not biting. "I can't make the same promise not to bite I am afraid." he said lightly, knowing eventually she would understand the comment a little better once she figured out what his power was. He shifted slightly where he was, getting a little restless and stretched a little himself to try and help out with the restlessness, after all, he had come up here to run and such and had not had the opportunity to due so yet.
He nodded. "Hunting is very fun but I tend to do it in a more unique way then most other, no guns or bows or anything. That just makes it to easy." He motioned to where she was practicing her martial arts earlier. "Though I suppose being a kung fu master would make it pretty easy also since you can jump from tree to tree right?" He idly chewed on his thumb nail a little. "Though it does take a lot of patients to hunt, not something everyone had."
"Yes,Thank you. I am new to the school, just arrived yesterday all the way from the great white north of Canada." He couldn't help but raise his brow at her again when she said welcome. "Though you don't sound to enthusiastic about being here yourself, do you not like it?" He was curious since he didn't know much about the school yet and was wondering if he had made a mistake from how she sounded.

Selina’s grin turned suggestive at his response, “Oh? Well, luckily for you, I might just like that sort of thing.” Her mind was in the gutter, sure, but she had no idea what he could possibly mean by it otherwise, so she just went with what was familiar. Noticing his restlessness she grinned, “And there are many ways to get rid of so much excess energy.” Of course, anything she offered was solely casual and came with no strings attached. She would expect nothing from him, and he could take her statement any way he wished, it wasn’t necessarily solely sexual in intent.
“Of course it would,” she agreed when he mentioned weaponry. “So how do you hunt then?” she asked before laughing, “And while I’m flattered, a kung fu master I am not. Nor can I fly from tree to tree yet, that’s only for the truly exceptional,” she teased. “And patience is key for learning martial arts as well… particularly when jumping from tree to tree as the wind has to be just right,” she added with a grin.
Selina shrugged and shook her head, “I feel like I should like it here for various reasons, but there are many drawbacks for not being,” she paused as she tried to think of a gentle way to break it to him, “…Well for not being like you,” she finished simply. If she could have his skin color and his gender, things would be so much easier. But then, she’d probably never actually take such a chance even if it were possible to offer. She liked who she was just fine, she just couldn’t stand how others treated her for it. She shrugged and smiled, “But hey, no where’s perfect right?”

Wax couldn't help but laugh and grin right back at her. "Be careful, I might have to take you up on an offer like that." he gave her a small wink. "Hell, if I knew I would get a greeting like this I would have transferred to this school much sooner." He put one of those obviously fake innocent smiles onto his face now. "Besides, I would think you would take me on a romantic date first." he said tisking.
"I can turn into a Grey Wolf, that's generally how I hunt. I of coarse have hunted with guns and such and in all seriousness, it's still an enjoyable experience if done right. But I mostly stay with the animal on animal action." He gave her another grin. "I would be happy to take you along sometime. Though I can't really talk when I am a wolf so that might be a downside." he said with a small shrug.
His face went more attentive when she was talking about her feelings about the school. In his opinion the best thing one could do with another in a conversation was listen to them with your full attention, otherwise you would just be rude. He nodded lightly at first then got a slightly confused look on his face. "Not being like me? Your not gonna make a French-Canadian joke are you?" he asked in a joking tone, knowing full well what she meant by the comment. He then had a serious look on his face again, his head slightly tilted. "I wouldn't think that would be a problem here. But, if it turns out it is, and someone isn't treating you well because of who you are then you tell me."
He had started to get attached to this woman, which was something his wolf side liked to do to people he enjoyed the company of and he was starting to feel a kind of pack protectiveness with her that probably came out in the tone of his voice in his last comment. "I'm sure I could convince them to treat you how you deserve to be treated." he added with a smile.

Selina smirked, “I certainly wouldn’t complain if you did,” she responded before she let out a laugh at him transferring sooner, “I do what I can.”
Selina then paused as if to think seriously, “A romantic, hmm? Well, I must admit, that’s not my really my strong point, but I suppose I could try it out if you really wanted to,” she teased. “No promises about the outcome though,” she warned lightly. Though sex for her was casual and common, Selina had never really experienced romance before. She wasn’t necessarily eager to try it out, but she also wasn’t entirely closed off to the idea. She just had a feeling she’d have to get to know a guy really well before such a thing was a true option.
She gave him a quick once-over, interested in the new information, “I would certainly still be willing to join you,” she admitted honestly before giving him a sly smile, “And silent men are so mysterious and intriguing… or so I’m told” she quipped with a grin.
Selina laughed, “I don’t know too many jokes about Canada, to be honest. I haven’t been in the U.S. for too long myself. I hail from Chile,” she explained.
She then shrugged at his comment and looked out over the town, “It’s usually not. People cover up their bigotry pretty well with fake smiles and forced politeness on most days, but sometimes it gets dangerous when the drunks come out to play,” she admitted. “The alcohol helps them lose whatever previous civility they pretended to have.”
Selina finally registered his offer and paused, “I’ll think about it,” she promised, “But usually I can take care of myself.” Selina wasn’t trying to be stand-offish, she was merely unsure of his motives. She wanted to like and trust him, but she’d dealt with too much violence to be able to trust anybody immediately.
Selina studied him and smiled in response to his last comment, “And how do you think I deserve to be treated?” she asked, genuinely curious.

Wax honestly wasn't quite sure what to think. He did think Selina was a rather attractive girl so the offer was definitely a rather tempting one, which did make him casually give her another once over that he couldn't help, but for now he wouldn't completely accept the offer. He didn't want to start off with the wrong impression of that being the only thing he wanted from her because he definitely wasn't one of those type of guys. At the 'romantic' comment he grinned at her again. "What can I say, I blame the french. It is Le langage de l'amour after all. One can't help but be a bit romantic with that kind of background." he said with a nod.
He tried to give a look of 'mystery and intrigue' before chuckling a little. "Well I do have to admit, you have me talking much more then I usually do when I first meet people. But I will be happy to hunt with you."
"Chile? That's rather exotic. Does this school get a lot of international students?" he asked with a raised brow. "I didn't expect to find one in my first two days here."
He sat listening to her again, giving small nods every now and then at what she was saying. "I have no doubt in my mind that you could take care of yourself. You seem like a very strong person physically and mentally, but it never hurts to have someone as backup." he said with a smile. The last question kind of caught him off guard when she asked it and he tilted his head slightly and glanced at the clouds while he thought for a moment.
"Well... as a strong attractive women I think you should be treated with respect first and foremost. Then maybe some light groveling as to not be the victim of a deadly martial arts accident." he said , giving her a sideways glance and another teasing smirk.

Selina smiled at his comment about the French, “Maybe you could teach me sometime. I’ve never really had the chance to learn,” she admitted. The schools she’d attended had barely had enough money to cover the basic courses, much less anything to spend on electives. “I might even become more romantic as a result,” she joked lightly. “Though Spanish es una idioma de romantica tambien,” she added with a grin.
“Just let me know when,” she replied. “Though I have no camouflage or hunting weaponry to my name,” she admitted. She was genuinely intrigued by the offer, and not merely being polite in her response.
Selina raised a brow at the term “exotic”, but ignored it, “I’ve only met one other international student that I know of, so I’m honestly not sure,” she admitted as she remembered meeting Seiji over Spring Break. “But I’m also sort of new here, since this is my first year, and I tend to keep to myself so I’m probably not the best resource on the matter.”
Selina nodded in acknowledgement, “This is true. Though let us hope that it will not be necessary,” she added with a sincere smile. “I much prefer conversations like this. Less chance of messing up my hair and make-up,” she added with a wry grin since her hair was up in a sweaty ponytail and her make-up was non-existent this morning.
Selina grinned, “So… If I were not strong or attractive I would be worthy of less respect?” she teased. “Though I definitely agree that the groveling is a given,” she responded with feigned seriousness.

Wax laughed lightly and gave a warm smile back. "I would be more then happy to teach you some French in exchange for you teaching me some Spanish. Trade a little romance for romance. And I am sure you could be romantic if you wanted, you probably just have not had the proper motivation for it is all." He said with a small nod. He then though for a few moments on the offer to let her hunt with him.
"Well... I was planning on hunting when I came up here anyways... We could probably just continue." he said slowly. He then moved his gaze to the ground and knelt, looking around for any kind of tracks. "Though you probably scared away a lot of the game." he said with a small grin. He then stood up and closed his eye's, inhaling deeply threw his nose. "No scent of anything besides sweat, which if I am being honest isn't to bad of a smell."
Wax chuckled lightly at the comment about messing up her hair. "I'm sure we could find much more constructive and entertaining ways to make your hair messy then a conversation." he teased back. Then did an over-exaggerated grimace "I feel like you backing me into a corner here." he said with a smile. "If you were not attractive or strong you would still deserve the same amount of respect simply for being a human. Everyone deserves that until they prove that otherwise."

Selina smiled, “’Romance for romance’… I like that,” she decided, “Perhaps, you’re already rubbing off on me,” she added lightly.
Selina glanced down as well, but her untrained eyes saw nothing of import, “Well, the ‘Kiai’ is meant to scare and intimidate opponents, so at least it was affective,” she retorted, “Even if it only ended up scaring off rabbits.” She had no idea what to look for in terms of tracks, but she was willing to try. When he stood and inhaled, she was slightly confused until she remembered he could turn into wolf. Selina then blushed a little in embarrassment at his comment before laughing, “Such a shame. The sweat is supposed to ward off opponents as well,” she teased.
Selina grinned at his comment and nodded, “Oh, I have no doubt about that… I mean, hunting is pretty intense right?” she asked with an innocent smile that didn’t match the mischief in her eyes. “Don’t worry, for being backed into a corner you fended for yourself quite marvelously,” she answered with a genuine smile.
“So where do we start, if there are no tracks or scents?” she asked, hesitating slightly on the word ‘scent’ as it was still a strange idea for her. "Oh! I saw a creek not too far off... Animals drink there, probably," she offered, unsure if she was making a fool of herself or not.

Wax waggled his eyebrows at her and grinned. "I try my best." He gave a quick glance over the ground again even though he knew he wouldn't find anything "Well it looks like it did it's job perfectly, and if I can I would prefer to bring down a deer and not a rabbit, hard to get full on a rabbit." he said, giving her a glance and a grin. He snorted at her feigned innocence and gave her the same mischievous look. "Well wolves are pretty good at fighting back when cornered." he said with a nod.
"As far as where we start. The creek is a good idea. My nose is better then a normal humans but it still is rather weak. I generally hunt while in wolf form cause my sense of smell, hearing, pretty much everything gets a lot better so if you did want to join me then I can change and we can get started if you want. There is a few requests if that's what you want to do." He idly rubbed his hands together just to have them doing something and he turned towards her. He was silent for a few moments while he thought of how he wanted to explain things.
"Changing, is a very painful process. While I am changing don't try to help or touch me. My skin is very very sensitive during the change from the hair growing and muscles shifting so touching me would only make it more painful and I might accidentally bite you. I will also most likely be making a lot of not pleasant noises because of the pain so if you don't like that or think you might be squeamish about here bones breaking and such then you would probably want to leave the area. After I finish changing you are free to touch or pet if you like, people generally like to do that after I change." he said with a shrug. All of that was said in a matter of fact tone. "It will take about five minutes to change and I will need to rest for a minute or so when it's finished also." he added.
Post by Selina Taylor on Apr 5, 2015 13:55:35 GMT -6
Selina laughed and nodded her agreement. “I’ve heard rabbits are good in a stew though,” she replied with a grin.
Selina became serious when he said he had requests and she nodded to show she was listening, “Whatever you need,” she offered. She waited patiently for him to speak, and stayed silent once he started, carefully memorizing the instructions. Selina nodded once more to show she understood, “Very well then, I promise I won’t do anything. And I’ll stay here with you as I’m not nearly as squeamish as I probably should be…” The time when she’d felt joy at snapping a violent drunk’s arm in an effort to get away flashed through her mind, but she pushed the thought to the back of her mind, not willing to focus on her emotions surrounding that incident.
Besides, this would be nothing like that night. She would feel no happiness at seeing this boy in such intense pain. She knew she’d probably more likely feel sick to her stomach at the sight of it because of how much she’d empathize, but she would stay nonetheless. That way, if something went wrong, she could at least contact someone at the school to come and help. She wouldn’t touch him or defy any of his requests, but she would get help if he took too much longer than his stated five minutes.
“But are you sure you want to do this? If the experience is that painful…” she offered, not wanting him to feel pressured into doing anything just because she was there. Selina genuinely looked forward to hunting with him, but to have to go through that much pain… Of course, he’d said this was his original intent, but still.
