Guylian was surprised how easily it had been to relatively openly discuss what had caused his return to the Academy, surprised at how little the level of uncomfortable tension had been within him. He supposed it was due to this man's quite easy acceptance of what he'd selected t odo, the fact ehe didn't seem to think it too much of a big deal overall. The teacher had spent so long building this metaphorical wall around himself, and only recently was he starting to consider the underlying question of why. What exactly was he afraid of? His lack of need to want emotional connections, this reclusive nature... Was it perhaps more an indication of weakness then an attempt to remain unwavering and steadfast? Emotional bonds worried him, and why exactly was a notion he'd previously not paid much heed... But it was certainly an interesting query for the man. Was it the fear that came with emotional bonding, the fear of betrayal and rejection? He was a weaker man then he had previously considered... Perhaps he really did need to speak to a councillor at some stage.
"It wasn't my ability being discovered that worried me... But more my convictions. All those years in the force would have been wasted... No matter how steadfast the evidence, the defence lawyers would have leap on any excuse to be able to win their cases," He replied, with another lighthearted shrug, trying not to let the conversation fall too heavily. He smiled with another nod of agreement, glancing towards the main Academy building. "... Despite my inhibitions, I do feel I did make the best choice. I've not really spent too much time among others like me, so it's a welcome change." He then paused, unable to stop a chuckle escaping his lips as he ran a hand through his curls. "Can't say I've been a natural dater. I seem to have a habit of rubbing people up the wrong way... I suppose it might be because I've not been exactly outgoing socially since coming here so far. What about yourself?"
