Reading Tea Leaves

[Selina Taylor]

    Selina shrugged, “If your power can’t be used for practical purposes then there’s probably not much point in having it. And using it for fun isn’t always a bad thing,” she offered. “Shallow perhaps, but not bad,” she added with wry smirk.

    “My power is hydrakinesis or water manipulation, whichever is easier for you to say. Hydrakinesis sounds prettier, but it’s still clunky and a bit… almost pompous I should think,” she admitted. Selina shrugged, “Anyway, I can freeze, boil, and control water. Including the water that runs through your veins,” she added with a slightly sadistic smile. The first time she’d used her power had been freezing her own blood, and she’d been practicing with the different ways she could manipulate her own blood in private, not telling a damn soul.

[Cade Carson]

"Well please don't manipulate my blood then. Or I'll have to grow that houseplant in the corner enough so that it chokes you. Self-defense. Or I could just use my knowledge in martial arts. That would work too." He laughed.

"I guess that makes making tea a cinch for you. The rest of us have to use a kettle you know."

Selina raised a brow and merely shook her head, “Fighting me would be a very bad idea,” she warned. “But, if you’re looking to spar in terms of martial arts, I wouldn’t mind seeing how you do sometime… Maybe I’ll even let you win once or twice, help boost your ego,” she teased.

“Yes, the practical uses of my power are endless… which is really nice.”

"I always used to beat my trainers. After a while anyways. But yeah, sparring sometime might be interesting. In the meantime though...what's another practical use for your powers out of curiosity? I mean, all I can really do is amp up my swings and give myself a six pack. Besides the whole plants thing that is." He shrugged and smiled.

Selina merely nodded to him, "That's impressive," she acknowledged simply. "And practical uses off of the top of my head... let's see. I never have to worry about the water going cold in the shower. I can freeze a wound to stop the bleeding. If I need a simple tool that I don't have, so long as I have water with me, I can form something similar with ice. And I can make a weapon out of any source of water I find..." she added, "There's other things too, but that's what I use it for most often."

[Cade Carson]

"Oh the shower use must be incredibly useful. And you never have to worry about adjusting the tap just so either!" He shook his head.

"I'm actually pretty jealous of that, not gonna lie."

[Selina Taylor]

"As well you should be," she responded with a laugh. Selina then gave him an amused once-over, "Does your power have any practical uses? Other than wooing women, of course," she teased.

[Cade Carson]

"Well, I do martial arts so obviously it has practical uses there. But honestly, it doesn't have many practical uses. I can make vegetables grow bigger, but that isn't generally a selling point. I just try to not use it too much. Even inactive it makes me sleepier than normal. Speaking of which, I should probably actually start making my way to my actual bed instead of falling asleep here in the library again, after I went to all the trouble of waking up."

Selina laughed at his honest admission, "Well, at least the women will be impressed. Besides vegetables are very important," she offered with a wink before nodding to him, "Good night then," she replied before taking another sip of tea. She wasn't often one to keep people past what they were willing to stay. She still wasn't entirely sure what to think of him, but she also preferred not antagonizing people without too much reason.

He stood up slowly, brushing a bit of accumulated dust off his jeans.

"Good to meet you Selina. See you around I guess? Anyways, enjoy your tea." He smiled before walking out of the library and making his way back to the dorms, yawning the whole way.
