Pre-Setup

[Erin Hackett]

"I'm pretty sure if I just go out there, I'll end up vanishing and they won't even see or hear me." Erin said as she let out a heavy sigh. Why could she not have an easier time talking to girls like she did with guys? Guys were so easy to talk to when they were at the right distance and didn't look like they were going to punch her face in. She did want to talk to a girl, hell she wanted to be brave enough to kiss a girl back for once but she knew herself. The chances of her actually sticking around after doing such a thing were in the 2%.

Sure she met girls that seemed like they would be into girls, but how did you just make a move on them. Erin was tempted to ask Tim how it had gone with Lux but instead she figured she just spy on him later and see how he talked to her and well girls in general. She started to play with the end of her shirt as Tim suggested that she just get herself out there. Erin understood that it would help her meet new people and what not but at the same time...did she really want that? Baby steps were working just fine so far in her mind. "If you need someone...then I will, but if you have enough then I'll just not do it." Erin said with a few nods, still playing with the end of her shirt.

Tim stopped moving closer, which helped a ton and Erin eased up a little bit but didn't move from where she was standing. "We could just leave them a note then saying they can order another if they think this party is going to be a big deal." Erin said as she gave a small shrug. Again, she didn't plan on going so she didn't really care about the outcome of the party. At Tim's last question Erin looked around, getting a real feel for the place but her mind went to thinking about how it would be awesome to have this be a place to keep all of her Pokémon stuff animals and how it could be turned into a complete Pokémon shack. "Oh...uh, I think we are good." Erin said when she realized she had not answered his question after a while.

Tim stared at Erin, again wondering if he should just drop it or something. Just because he'd gotten lucky didn't mean everyone did. Then again: "You know," he said, sounding a little weasly, "I hear girls get drunk at these sort of things. Really drunk. Drunk enough to forget that they're straight. Not that I'm encouraging it or something, but hey," he shrugged, "it's something to consider."

As was his other proposition. He'd work to make sure that Erin was comfortable with it. Part of him even wondered if he should try and rig it so that Erin ran into some of the other interviewees. Then Tim realized how very much that was starting to make him sound like some middle-aged woman in a sit-com and he quickly dismissed the idea. Erin could make her own friends.

The party would go on just fine too. They got all their measurements and everything in place. At least, Tim had thought so, before Erin started taking a long time. He leaned forward, waiting to hear what she came up with...

"Good it is," he said, chuckling and nodding. He looked around, taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly. "Well, let's get out of here then." He nodded and turned to wheel away.

Erin would have liked Tim to drop the subject, unless he planned on giving her some kind of sage like advice on how to get a girlfriend. Did she even need one? She felt like she had to have at least once in her life time before she graduated. She was already a Junior in High School and that was only because she failed a year a while back. Really she would have been in her last Senior year and then it would have been off to college. To be in college and still have little to no chance to ending up with a girlfriend. Even my dad ended up with someone and had a kid, but me? Me! How in the world am I supposed to even get close enough to a girl to ever have anything serious!? Erin's mind started to wonder off in a small panic then.

Only the thoughts and the panic paused for a moment when Tim spoke up. Bringing up how some girls got really drunk to the point that they would forget they were straight. Yeah, Erin knew about that but the problem then was she had never actually gotten drunk before. Would she still be the same if she was drunk? "Wait, so could I forget I like girls? What if I end up sleeping with a guy?! Or I could get lucky and end up with one of the girls you said but then what about the morning after?" Erin asked the panic returning as she moved away from Tim.

She would have ended up tearing the end of her shirt by now if she were pulling on it the right way instead and bunching it up in her fist. She shook her head then, closing her eyes, and telling herself to settle down. She was getting way too worked up about the matter. That was why she was going to be single forever. She was too much of a spaz. Perhaps I should get into the dating Sim games. Could learn a thing or two or just fill that void. Yet, that sounds extremely lame and not l33t at all. Erin thought to herself once more and then let out a sigh. She was just going to leave the subject alone now and moved to help Tim out so they could leave.

Tim rolled his eyes as Erin nearly panicked. "Nevermind, forget I said anything. You should probably just stick with online dating or something," which was a fairly safe route to take. Tim had pretty well considered it before he'd all but lucked into getting Lux to pay attention to him (a set of events that he still didn't quite understand but had at least moved beyond questioning). he gave Erin another "chill out" look before rolling himself a little further away.

Erin was moving around and helping him, and Tim was willing to just let her push. "The party should go off fine enough," Tim said, looking up at Erin, "even if we don't show up. I figure we just get a system that's easy enough that even these people can run it and we won't have any problems,' Tim nodded and looked forward again.

"And hey, at least we'll be getting some nice dough with it. I'll probably end up just tossing mine at Karl though," Tim reached up to push his glasses back up, bobbing his head again. "We got to get some stuff set up and all. Give me something to do over the weekend," Tim gave Erin another flashed smile and then pointed. "Back to the ranch for now."

"Online dating? That is like the most desperate cry for a relationship. They would kill my rep on the web." Erin said as she crossed her arms over her chest. Granted it did seem like a good idea but her reputation. She didn't want people thinking that she was in some mighty need for a girlfriend and to be loved. She had gone eighteen years without it, what was another eighteen or however long she lived to it. Okay, that was a bad way to think about it.

She wanted a girlfriend and she wanted someone who she could make out with and just go crazy with and not worry about being together forever. Unless the other person wanted to be...maybe. Tim was giving her a look and she nodded her head and moved away from him a little to calm herself down. She did get pretty worked up there. No wonder she had no friends. Ugh, I need to play mortal combat or something. Erin thought to herself, knowing that would get her out of her little slump that just popped up. It would not stay long, she didn't dwell in living in depressing places. It was boring and so lame.

"So easy a monkey can run it is what I'm hearing." Erin said with a small chuckle. Granted she would never let a monkey touch her tec, she didn't care how smart this monkey apparently was. It was still a monkey and her tec was expensive, she probably would let a human touch it, unless they were a pretty girl or someone who knew what they were doing. "You don't have to pay me, I didn't do much down here." Erin said when Tim brought up dough. She was already moving him back to this said ranch, finding it odd that he called it that. Then again, Tim was an interesting person that she was still trying to figure out. "We should go out for pizza or a movie or something sometime." Erin spoke up as she helped push Tim.

Tim quirked a brow as Erin insisted that online dating was an absolute last resort. Really? The girl who he knew full well had several online accounts, including at least one for a MMORPG? Yeah, Tim was tempted to just make an online profile for her and watch as they fought to beat off all the girls with sticks.

That would be for later. For now, they just needed to worry about getting back. Tim chuckled at Erin's comments, nodding. Yeah, they could definitely set something up that anyone could handle. That was the general idea, after all. Tim tapped some fingers on his chair as they went, thinking about how cool they could make the party.

"Well, I didn't say I'd pay you lots," Tim drawled. He then paused and looked up at Erin, his expression deadly serious. "Hey, I'm a taken man now. I can't be doing stuff," he said, speaking far, far too seriously. Even he couldn't hold it, chuckling and shaking his head. "you know I'm just playing. C'mon," he slapped the chair, "we can plan our pizza outing or something. Shame there aren't any big movies coming up..."

Erin did have a lot of online accounts for video games, forms, and all sorts of things. She just heavily avoided making any on any kind of dating things. She didn't want people to think she was desperate or anything. Desperate people were not cool, everyone knew that. Erin was practically the definition of cool...on some levels in her opinion. So that meant that she could not stoop so low as to make some online dating account. Plus she had a future to worry about, one that involved her remaining a rich kid with the ability to buy practically anything she wanted.

Even if she could not buy it, she could always steal it. With her skills with computer hacking and her power, she was practically made to be the perfect criminal. It was a good thing that she had a good father figure that raised her right and kept her in line. For the most part she was a pretty good kid and didn't do half the things she was actually capable of doing on the computer. Tim brought up that he didn't say anything about paying her a lot. Very true. The topic however got awkward when Tim took her question the way she didn't want him to take it. She was already starting to turn red a little as she shook her head.

"Not like that. I'm one hundred percent lesbian. If anything I would want your girl before I would want you." Erin spoke quickly for her defense. Tim then brought up that he was not serious and that just made her feel even worse. She was making a face now, a mix between a pout and a glare at Tim. If she was a bad person she would have shoved him out of his wheelchair, but she just kept it a thought and not an action. Not that she had the gull to do such a thing anyways, not when she was not using her power. "Yeah, we will have pizza and watch a movie. Any movie that is out or will be out soon I can get us." Erin said with a nod.
