Serene still felt uncomfortable being in the same area as the boy, even though she didn't know why. Even though she was on the whole other side of pool which was quite large actually. Her body cut through the water easily. She had always enjoyed the water back before she came to Bellefonte. This was the first time in ages that she had swam in water. Unbeknownst to her though, there was actually someone quite heavy preparing to take a jump, not looking where he was jumping, while Serene was trying to swim at the bottom of the pool to see how long she could stay under without needing to breath.
As she swum a huge splash resonated through the water right above her. And then after a split second of fear a huge (width wise) person accidentally came crashing down on top of her. Serene was stuck at the bottom of the pool and she felt as if she couldn't move. So this is what drowning feels like. she thought just before her world passed into darkness.
Out Of Character: I didn't know how to keep the thread going so I decided to give RJ a chance to interact with her if he chooses to do his job as a lifeguard. *winks*
{hey, I ain't gonna complain about the introduction of plot penguins; if you didn't usher some in, I probly would've}
RJ kept his attentions throughout, trying to look and all. He did notice a major fatty heading up the diving board, and part of him thought about pulling attention to them. Some people just should not be allowed to be in swimsuits after all, least of all without being mocked. Except RJ's heart just wasn't in it for the moment. Plus, he kinda wanted to see if the fatty would make a big splash and all.
They did. They also seemed to actually be landing on someone.
"Oh shit," came out before RJ could stop it. He blew his whistle and actually took off. His dive was perfect: he'd watched some vids on it before heading it, and he cut into the water at a decent angle. It only took him seconds to get to the bottom. Unfortunately, it was proving a lot harder to budge the person, not to mention getting to Serene. Not really knowing what else to do, RJ leaned down and put his lips over the girl's, breathing air at her. It probably wouldn't actually help but hey, it felt like the right thing to do. If nothing else, she'd go with having the hot guy's lips on hers, and wasn't that the dream?
Serene swam about in her darkened mind. She couldn't breath and she hated it. She couldn't see and couldn't move. Then she felt a small rush of stale air come into her lungs and her eyes fluttered open to see a boy's face right up in front of her. Well, you know Serene. This was nothing like the movies where she would continue the kiss with the boy. Instead she freaked out and started thinking: What the hell is this boy doing! I only met him twice!
Deep down she was grateful for that one rush of stale air but on the outside, not so much. As her air started to run out again she pushed the water around her and she shot out from under the fat guy and up into the fresh air. She coughed up the water that was in her lungs and then heaved heavy gasps of air and then grabbed the side of the pool, trying to stop her world from spinning even more.
Weird, this was supposed to, like help and stuff, right? It seemed to be producing some bubbles and all, which might have helped signal the big guy to start moving or something, but it didn't seem to be doing the lifesaving stuff that RJ swore it did on television and stuff. Why would television lie to him?
He did try to help get her up once the guy moved. He swam right alongside her, right there to help if she gave even the slightest hint of actually needing it, swimming right along with her. "Hey, you doing alright?" he asked, turning to spit some water out of his mouth. "Sorry I didn't get to you sooner, but, like, there was that really fat guy on you. But hey," he grinned and raised a hand to point at her, "I totally saved you there, right? With the whole mouth to mouth thing? Impressive, right?"
He smirked and nodded a few more times, clearly impressed with himself.
Serene was still coughing up water for a few seconds after she got to the wall, gasping for air. She felt kind of good that he had swam along with her even though she didn't know why. When he talked about the mouth to mouth thing she blushed slightly and tried to clear thoughts of him kissing her underwater away. "It was impressive i'll grant you that but you still need a lot of work in CPR. First off I'm pretty sure your supposed to bring the victim to the surface before performing it."
She smiled for a moment then heard footsteps behind her on the ground. A big angry lifeguard came walking towards them and points at RJ. "I'm not sure who you are Mister but was there a reason you were sitting in the lifeguard chair?" and Serene thought: I knew it!
"Well, duh," RJ said, letting out a few laughs and rolling his eyes, "like, I so know that. There was just a big fat guy on you, so I figured I'd---"
And there seemed to be someone coming over. RJ looked over at them, seeing the angry finger pointed in his direction. Definitely not something he hadn't faced before. He puffed up in response. "What? That your chair or something?" he said, adding a little snort. "Maybe you should have been in it, then I wouldn't be all up saving people's lives!"
RJ gestured at the blonde girl in question, whose life he had quite clearly saved just a few moments before. "You also should put up signs about fatties using the diving board and landing on people, 'cuz that is just all kinds of wrong." RJ nodded and leaned against the chair, folding his arms in the traditional "too cool" position, even nodding a few times as he did.
Serene watched the conversation that was going on between RJ and the angry lifeguard. The lifeguard's sharp emotions were giving her a huge headache. "No! It wasn't my chair. I'm the head lifeguard. We let you play your games and then you blew your whistle then dove in. It could've caused unnecessary panic so don't think about playing games anymore." Serene then got so angry. She had been trying to block the lifeguard's angered emotions but unfortunately that didn't go to well.
"Unnecessary panic? He saved my life you dolt and I'm quite grateful of it. I don't think that caused unnecessary panic. Don't you have eyes?" Serene was seething now just as the lifeguard was even though she didn't want to be.
Head lifeguard? RJ snorted. Like there was a head lifeguard around here. This guy was so obviously full of it and just wanted to muscle in on RJ's turf. He was tempted to throw down with him and kick his ass in front of all the people there. "Yeah, more like you're the kind of lifeguard who gives---" he began, only to pause as the blonde showed teeth.
That made RJ smirk, and he turned that smirk onto mister "head" lifeguard. "Yeah, you hear that? I'm made of awesome, and you just wish you were half this good. So run along and go back to giving head or whatever you do," RJ raised a hand and made the little shooing motion, clicking his tongue slightly as he went, that smirk never leaving his lip all the while.
Serene was slightly annoyed by what he said next to the lifeguard even though he deserved it. The lifeguard glared at them a moment and then walked away angrily. Serene turned back to RJ. She still wasn't entirely sure what was going on the world was still spinning. "Um, thanks." she said to him, blushing slightly, "I'm not sure what I would have done if you hadn't come and helped me." Serene blushed again. She tried to hear death her face in her dripping hair, and hopped he couldn't see her face.
The world was still spinning slightly but she actually allowed herself to look at the boy for the first time. He was actually really hot. He had rippling muscles everywhere. She tried not to pay attention to that though. She tried to pay attention to how they act and not how they look.
"You probably woulda drowned," RJ said, nodding. He rolled his shoulders again, knowing that the water was probably just making his well-muscled body look even hotter. He'd even had a few tattoos put on him to further enhance the whole "bad, but just bad enough that maybe he could be fixed" thing that he had going on, which he knew was a total panty dropper.
"But you're lucky: I was totally there to save you," he grinned again, looking into her eyes. "So how about you give me a name, eh? And maybe a little something for a reward?" He leaned forward. "You know, just to show how grateful you are," another pause, and he actually seemed to look a little deeper into her eyes. "I'd settle for a number, if you're feeling shy."
Hey, sometimes you needed to get the skiddish ones all alone first, then move. RJ knew the dance.
Serene felt weird. She had never had a boy this near to her. Boys this hot at her old school normally just left her alone or teased her for being so shy. Now as she looked at him move closer she felt her heart start to best faster. She didn't know why. Maybe it was just because she felt so awkward. "Uh, um, I'm Serene." she stuttered out as she started to blush. She stared into his eyes as he stared dint hers. She didn't know what was going to happen. "Well, I would, um, but, I need a pencil and some paper and I didn't really bring any to the pool."
"So, um, would you, um, like something else besides that to?" she stuttered out not knowing what she could give to the person who saved her life.
Serene? "Serene," RJ repeated, pitching it low and sort of breathy. he could see the blush coming and already started to grin. Aw, she was even stuttering about pen and paper. Like she'd never heard of cell phones before or something. Albeit, RJ's was tucked in a locker, but still.
"Well, I guess we could try something that doesn't require pen and paper," he said. He offered a slight shrug and moved just a little closer. "I don't want to push or anything though, but I could definitely think of some things that just involve stuff we already got with us," he raised a hand to brush some of her wet hair away from her face, looking down at her, his eyes intense.
"But I don't do that sort of thing unless a girl wants it," he promised, lightly stroking a cheek, "and I should probably at least give a name too, huh? RJ," he added a wink and that charming smile of his.
Serene felt like her heart was going to explode. She felt as if her head was going to explode and she would melt. She was in the pool on the edge of a wall right next to a really hot guy. Maybe before those to things happen her brain would short circuit. He moved a bit closer now. So close Serene could feel his breath on her.
He brushed the hair our if her face and then gave Serene his name. He added a wink to that and Serene felt she was like chocolate on the summer solstice. He stroked her cheek and a slight shiver went down Serene. This felt as if she was in one of those books she read. She moved a tiny bit closer then to him. Did he want to kiss her or something? Her head was spinning. She barely had any idea what was going on. There was only a tiny gap between them now.
Should I bridge the gap or should I see if the is what he meant and let him bridge the gap. Serene was so confused. What was going on.
Aw, she was going all doe in headlights. RJ recognized that from time to time, and it was always delicate to handle. Some girls liked it, loved it even, when he made the first move. Just lean in, lightly brush lips to lips, maybe ask permission with it, go through. Others hit him. Though RJ ended up kissing either way, so, really, the decision was already made for him.
He waited just a bit longer, leaning forward slightly. His eyes looked to hers, his brows raised. She could turn him down: he'd even be cool about it. Technically he'd already put his lips on hers, after all. Plus, he could always just go off and find someone more willing. But he wanted to make it clear that she was totally choosing.
So he gave her that look, but he only waited a moment before moving forward. His lips brushed against hers, more of a suggestion of a kiss, an asking of permission, instead of an actual kiss. After all: he wanted to see if he could get her to kiss back first.
OOC: I'm so sorry about the not replying soon enough!
Serene shivered as his lips brushed hers. The world was spinning around her which when out down to the most recent lack of oxygen. Her brain melted into goop and she could not decided what to do. After that moment where she couldn't think at all she decided she would make it like the books she's read and the movies she's watched. After her brain finally processed the situation and realized the brush on her lips was basically asking her permission. She hesitated for a moment before deciding. As if to say 'Ok, dude's she also gently brushed her lips against his.
OOC: I'm also sorry it's short! I need to go to school so I'm rushing!
