“Overseas, really?” Now this sounded suddenly a lot more interesting and so Quinn couldn’t believe it to be true. There had to be a catch. Like he had to collect eight hundred dollars if he wanted to go, making only the rich kids at school able to go on those trips. He shrugged, the best way for him to chase away any enthusiasm that might be coming over him. “I prefer taking pictures of people and I can do that here. Besides, I doubt my aunt will let me study photography. Not as a major. So I doubt I’ll have the opportunity to leave.” He didn’t think he was being pessimistic. He was realistic. His aunt was probably happy she didn’t have to deal with him as well as her three boys but that didn’t mean she was not ignoring his existence. If he were to tell her he wanted to become a photographer, she’ll point out how hard it would be to make a living and try to convince him to pick another job and keep photography as a hobby. Maybe it was the safe thing to do but it sure wasn’t what Quinn wanted to do.
“Wait. He’s going to give you a job but he still wants you to do unnecessary studies?” That sounded so... pointless. He could understand it was not to do any favouritism, hiring your daughter was enough already, but it still seemed sort of useless if she already knew everything there was to know. Quinn shrugged again. In the end, it was not his problem. “You could probably cramp the four years into two. They do that sometimes.” At least he heard of it, but since his reference was some tv shows, he could be wrong. It was best not to trust everything you hear on tv.
Quinn didn’t think he was that materialistic. He didn’t ask for the camera, she offered it to him. “I just don’t really see what else to ask of you. I’m fine on my own and you still insist of repaying me somehow,” he pointed out. He was not one of those who would ask for her friendship in return and she already refused to leave him alone as payment. She made it pretty clear taht she was here to stay, like a mosquito buzzing at your ear. “Alright, alright. Movie. What kind?” Then again, even if it was the lamest film ever made, if that could clear the debt, he would take it.
“Already doing it, I attracted you and you’re a lesbian,” he replied as she said he would attract the ‘bad girls’. He knew it was not what she meant, he was not dumb enough not to understand that, but she had to admit that his attitude brought him only Erin and she certainly was not the ‘right’ girl for him. He sighed, partly of relief as she promised to go this time. “Sure. Just plan it and tell me. It’s not like you wouldn’t do it any differently, right?”
