It wasn’t a great job to wander the corridors and make sure a bunch of hormonal teenagers didn’t act like a bunch of hormonal teenagers like to act but it was her job and Tamara wouldn’t let anyone claim she was slacking at it. Tamara felt bad for leaving Priya all alone but she also tried to remind herself of her job to do. She felt bad for turning her down. Had she paused a moment, she might have wondered why she felt sorry, since she barely knew the woman. Oh, she was nice, she would not deny it. But she was still a stranger to her, it wasn’t like she had to turn down the offer of a friend or something so good it would be criminal to say no to it.
Then again, around this time of the day, it wasn’t like she had much to do. She had been doing this long enough to know when she had to work and when she was more likely to spend her time at her office, counting the minutes. She could skip away for a little while. But alcohol... no matter how tempting, she should probably not.
Guilt for turning her offer down was not the only thing she started to feel. And Priya was trying real hard to keep Tamar’s attention to herself. Normally, she wasn’t that into women. But she was not immune to flattery. No matter who gave them to you, it felt always good to see you could spark up desire in someone. She arched her eyebrows at the woman’s comment. She doubted anyone would believe she spent some time with her as part of her job. She wasn’t even sure her job included taking care of the staff members, international or not. “I could check around, see if anyone knows about the basket that was taken. But I should probably bring those back to the office first,” she said, holding the bags of coffee she came here for.
