"Hey, you ain't heard me play yet," protested Beau. He didn't put a whole lot of effort into it; he knew that some people were darn hard to convert. Plus, he wasn't entirely sure she wasn't joking; there was something in her tone to suggest that maybe that was a possibility. Wasn't like they were going to linger on it anyway: the conversation had moved right along. Right back to her being oblivious, which, in Beau's opinion was usually how the whole pining thing worked. He'd heard enough songs about pretty much that exact situation after all. Again: he wasn't going to hammer on it, not least of all because the whole new problem thing had come about.
Beau listened to Cassie's counter-plan, nodding in agreement. "Yeah, that sounds like it oughta work. I'm probly gonna have to beat it back to the Academy though, I got stuff I gotta tend to," he dug his phone out of his pocket, giving it a quick look. Yep, it was getting later than he'd expected. Then again, he'd only planned on spreading a few flyers throughout town. He certainly hadn't planned on running into anyone and swapping minds with them, nor taking them out to coffee either.
"Right, so I'll see ya 'round then," drawled Beau, sliding out of the seat. He stuck low to the ground, pausing only for a moment to slide his phone into his pocket and money onto the counter. Then he was off, crouched low and heading toward the back. Their server gave him an odd look, and he just returned with a shrug and a rueful smile. Soon enough, he'd be out the back and out of there, beating it back to the Academy at a decent clip, just short of a run, especially as he had a feeling that the girl was gonna figure out he was gone soon enough. Not that Beau'd be around for that conversation.
{an' Beau's out an' gone}
