"Yay, more research," Tim said, half meaning it. He snorted and readjusted himself yet again. He did have to pause and roll his eyes. "Check your max health, Hackett, you're totally already getting some bonuses. I told you: this one doesn't have traditional leveling," Tim gave another nod.
Then it was time. He counted aloud, getting the numbers into the right groove. He'd expected them to have already swung, but Erin apparently wanted to drag it out. So the one. Then the two. Then they struck, hopefully hitting at the same time...

Tim pointed out to her to check her max health, using her last name. It had been a while since she had been called her last name and in truth she kind of missed it. She loved her last name and it was just what she had been used to being called since she was little. Erin had gotten better at not introducing herself by her last name...well at least a little bit better. Everyone at the school should have been happy that she was not tacking on a -chan, -san, -kun, or -senpai at the end of their names. However, now that she thought about it she was slightly tempted to do just that.
"Right, my fault. I need to pay better attention. Still getting used to this style of gaming." Erin pointed out, since this was kind of new for her. Playing in the same room with someone that she actually knew in real life. Plus the game was sort of different then what she was used to with the aspects and controls that were added in. While they were still standard there was something that was different. Not that any of that was import as Tim did the count down and they would hopefully both lunge at the enemy at the same time.
A combined attack would have been enough to finish the plant off and thus end the battle. "Plants might be my new enemy in this game." Erin said, letting out a sigh. Here she thought she was going to be a bunny hater but now this plant was up there. No, bunny was still on top of the list. "Nice work there, Team Leader." Erin said as she had her avatar give Tim's a smile. "Now we should probably get somewhere safe before we come across another problem." Erin added after, already looking around to see if there was anything close by that would be a threat.
"Yeah, it's gonna be one of those games," agreed Tim, nodding and adjusting his glasses. That had been part of his reasoning for picking it. He preferred ones where you had to keep track of stuff like this and rely on your intuition and brainpower instead of just raw reflexes. Not that he wouldn't get in with a good First Person Shooter if they found one though.
The combo finished the plant off, and it withered on the fine. Tim let out a breath of relief, then took a quick look at their stats. It had been a bit of a pain, but a lot of Tim's basics had gone up. Though instead of pulling away, he moved forward. "You're forgetting the very important thing, Hackett," he said. And soon his avatar was pulling something out of the plant. "Looting."
Tim nodded and looked, noting that a few seed pods had been added to his inventory. "They're a loot based economy thing. Some bartering, but mostly trading in junk you get from killing monsters for more useful stuff." Tim nodded and then checked the time, wincing. "Yeah, let's get to a safe zone and get warped out of here. It's getting way late," Tim started moving his avatar back, taking a short cut back to the town proper.

"Means that it has the potential to be a really cool game or a really bad game." Erin pointed out since that was what happened with those type of games. If there was a lot of information you had to look up, learn, and memorize then in the end you were going to feel like the game was good enough to be worth it. Or that you had wasted time and effort on it, but Erin was hoping it was more of the first one then the second one. She liked games that did call for more than just reflexes and some small level of skill.
Yet, she did like the occasional game that didn't require much effort to play but she would see soon enough what this game. "What about it?" Erin asked, missing what Tim was getting at, at first. Last time things just ended up in her inventory and she thought the same was going to happen again in this case. It did and it was when she went to check her inventory that she got what Tim had been getting at. Correction, it was not completely auto loot and in fact that they did sort of have to loot the bodies but like usual the loot was dived out between the two of them because they were in the same party.
“So it’s one of those games. I'm foreseeing a lot of hours being put into this game. We are going to have to get like an official day to meet...likely on the weekend when we don't have to worry about test or anything." Erin said. If the game was going to have so many elements incorporated into it then that meant the more time one had to put into the game. At least, they were going to have to put more time into the game if they wanted to be good and get a handle of all the aspects the game had to offer. "Race you." Erin said as she moved her avatar ahead to try and run past Tim's. She took the shortcut as well, using the mini map to help her navigate where she was going.

Yep, Tim definitely had the loot, but he figured that the spoils for this would go into some sort of joint fund. They were supposed to be the start of a clan, after all, so it wouldn't do to have them arguing about loot or having anyone bogart most of the stuff. Plus, this wasn't really cool loot, and Tim wanted to have a decent claim on it. So he just spent a few more moments organizing his inventory.
"Well, that is kind of the point," he said absently as Erin outlined the game. "Kinda wanted something we could sink a lotta hours in. Not exactly rolling in the Benjamins here," which was probably the biggest understatement regarding Tim's fortunes. Though he was getting some halfway decent revenue from his channel, most of that went right back into production. Gotta keep the show going.
And there went Erin. Tim rolled his eyes and directed his avatar to follow. So long as they stuck to the path, they shouldn't run into anything too deadly. Tim seriously hoped not: anything too big and they'd wind up dog-meat. It would only take a few minutes to get to safety too, and Tim was already getting ready for the log-off procedures.

Erin was already starting to plan how she would go on from time to time to just possibly farm for good to stock up in whatever form of bank their group would have. She would have to do it the right way so she was not skyrocketing to higher levels then everyone in the group. While it made leveling easy and quick for those who were under the level of the person taking those to higher level areas, it was just...actually Erin didn’t have a problem with doing that. Still, this was a team work thing so she figured she would do her best to not log in too many hours without the rest of the gang.
“No? Don’t you have like a talking blog show? No one gives you donations for that?” Erin asked, a confused expression on her face outside the game. She was ‘rolling in the Benjamin’s’, thanks to her ‘jobs’ and her father’s job. If Tim wanted or needed money she was fine handing some over if it meant helping a friend out. That was what you were supposed to do right? Help your friends out when they had money problems so long as you were not always helping them out. “If you need any cash to be put into this game, I would be willing to help.” Erin said, figuring it was important to say it and not just think it.
Then she was running ahead, trying to race and get there before Tim, but in all honesty it didn’t matter who won. Erin wanted to win but she was not going to day if she lost, since in real life she might lose to Tim. She liked to think she was a fast runner since she ran a lot. However, she was a short burst runner. The kind of runner who could dash of really fast and get pretty far but they could only keep that up for a little bit before they were tuckered out. She started to log out as well, tabbing the game to the desktop so she would have a reminder about it. Removing her gear, she stood, and started to pack her things up. “Thanks again for letting me game with you.” Erin muttered out, not looking at Tim.

"Most of the money goes right back into the show," Tim explained. He'd already started moving his character, but he could definitely hold a conversation and direct a virtual avatar at the same time. "That and I'm donating to a lot of charities and stuff. Like, everything I got from the Zoe vid went right to helping her get her show off the ground," Tim shrugged, not feeling like it was that big a deal. Maybe a year ago he would have been all about getting some money for it, but now, now he did it because it was what he felt like he should be doing, like what Lux wanted him to do.
So he just snorted when Erin mentioned money. "I'll just work hard, no big," he insisted. It looked like Erin would be not only beating him to the safe zone. Tim figured their speed would probably level up by running more, so he didn't see any reason not to push himself. He exited as soon as he got there, which was a beat or two after Erin, then stretched.
"Hey, no sweat. I'm just glad that someone responded to the ad," he said, scratching a bit. "We'll have to pull some more people in: get this thing really going," he bobbed his head before moving to get more of his stuff together. He thought he already had some emails in the inbox, so it shouldn't be too hard. "I'll see you around," Tim turned and raised a hand, not really wanting to, like, dismiss Erin, but still wanting to bid her farewell and all.

"You don't keep any of it for yourself and things you want?" Erin asked, finding that hard to believe. She bought things for other people and what have you but most of her money that she earned went to herself and that was pretty much it. What was the point in it being your money if you were just going to give it to other people? That didn't fully make any sense to her, but then again this was Tim and he seemed like the kind of person to do that whole charity thing. He dad did it as well, but Erin never really thought of doing it herself.
"I would say nice guys finish last, but you have a girlfriend, have a blog that makes you money, and I bet people like you cause you donate stuff. So that would not really apply." Erin said. It was odd how that became a saying when he clearly was not coming in last in anything. Perhaps Erin needed to try and be a little nicer if she ever wanted to land herself a girlfriend. One with soft lips, all the curves, and just knew the right way to...Erin had to shake her head in the real world to get herself out of her thoughts that were going down the drain. "My offer still stands." Erin pointed out as Tim basically waved it off.
She was pleased that she had one, even if she did kind of get a head start by dashing ahead as she said the whole 'race you' thing. A win was still a win, right? She logged off with ease, packing things up and now talking to Tim about the future of their little group on this game. "See you." Erin said, her eyes dilating as she used her power to completely vanish from sight and sound. She then scampered off to head back to her room. She had not real reason to use her power but tended to use it whenever she was 'making her escape'.

Tim shrugged. "Don't really need to keep anything yet," he said, keeping it sort of vague. He didn't figure that Trevor Paige would appreciate being outed as helping to fund Tim's little endeavor. Though anymore, the ad revenue and some of the other sponsors gave Tim almost enough to keep the show going. He'd gotten a few vids selected by some aggregating sites and that had definitely boosted his overall view count.
And yet again Tim found himself with someone who was saying he was nice. He had to laugh at that, looking away for a moment. Maybe now, but he definitely didn't used to be, and really, the only reason he did anything now was because he wanted to live up to Lux's expectations. That still didn't feel like the best motivation to Tim, but, well, he'd just keep it to himself.
He waved off the offer, after grinning and winking at the whole girlfriend, money, blog thing. "See ya around!" Tim said, waving. It seemed like Erin literally vanished, and Tim took a few moments looking around for her before remembering her power. He chuckled and gathered up the last few bits of his things, then he'd head out himself.
