I Fight For You

Devyn morphed as if unfolding a cocoon, her stolen shadows slipping back into their respective places and giving a bit more depth to the blank hall. Briskly explaining, she turned back to Guy who eyed her critically then in turn looked upon Rell, whose expression, for one reason or another, had turned sour. the man’s next words explained this, the tormentor was used to being seen as the innocent party by keeping himself directly in the center of a carefully spun net of lies, flattery and of course, his “charming” charisma. Yet now, even when Rell was on the floor bleeding this teacher had still given him detention, face, melting into uncertainty, then hate, then rage, so much so, that for a second Andrew felt sure he would attempt to use his power on Guy himself. None the less, the moment passed, and he returned to his normal, if a bit cold, stare.

“Yes. Sir” Rell all but spit out the last word, unable to conceal a glare of pure loathing, before he picked himself up and, with the other boy’s aid, now helped their feline like companion towards the nurse’s office, the few onlookers who had edged their way back, skittering off at the trainer’s words.

As the last of them departed, leaving the hall in silence, Andrew wondered if it was possible to be expelled from Bellefonte, he didn’t think so, at least not like other schools; his mind spending half a second picturing other unpleasant options that might be utilized for students who did something… like say... this.

The boy gulped, he wasn’t sure how much trouble he was in, if any, but it wasn’t his own fate that was concerning him. This was precisely why he hadn’t told Devyn about what was happening last time, it was his problem, his fault, somehow he knew it was and even so, he wasn’t going to let her get in trouble for helping him, not if there was anything he could do. So Andrew waited, silently for what Guy had to say next, feeling a bit like a kicked dog, despite the irony, with his eyes cast downwards to the blood specked floor.

Devyn would willingly attack someone, but it had to be provoked of course...unless she lost control. She still felt confident that Guy would know that what she had said had to be true because she had quickly shifted back instead of having to be forced like she normally would have to if she had lost control. Sometimes if someone talked to her in the right tone of voice or with the right words she would be able to pull herself back, but that didn't always happen. She had almost lost herself there for a moment, but Andrew had been able to stop her. Probably because Andrew just looked so small and like he would crumple if Devyn outright really hurt the little bully gang. Not that any of that matter because she was back to her human form, the fighting was over, and Guy was here to save the day.

Or toss out detentions and give them all a stern talking to, which Devyn had a feeling was going to be the most likely outcome of it all. Something she was used to in her years of being at BA and her 'less than stellar' behavior from time to time. Most of the time it was just for underage drinking, sneaking out late at night, and a few fights here and there. Devyn watched as the bullies did as they were told and left for the nurse office on Guy's order. Good, the sooner they got there then the sooner they could get fixed up and not have to worry about their injuries getting worse in case they were stupid enough to make a smart comment. Devyn just rolled her shoulders and tucked her hands into the pockets of her jeans before her green eyes looked to Guy when he basically told her and Andrew to remain behind.

Now the talk. Devyn thought to herself, not really worried about the matter at all and was up for whatever punishment the would follow. She had no regrets at what she had done and would do it all again in a heartbeat. Andrew clearly was giving off nervous vibes that Devyn could pick up on and she was not even in her other form. "I'm the one that hurt them so I'll take all the blame on it." Devyn piped up before Guy would begin speaking, to get that out there. Andrew really just got beat up and while he did get a few good hits in there, Devyn didn't want him to get in any trouble.

"I'm going to go out on a limb here," said Guy, speaking slowly and turning to look at the two remaining students, "and guess that the ones that were bleeding attacked Wylen here," he gestured toward the younger boy, "and started in on him, when Solway noticed," this time gesturing toward Devyn, "and decided that she was going to let that protective, mother bear, excuse me, wolf tendency kick in and start attacking."

Guy heard the assertion from Devyn, that she'd done most of the work and would take most of the blame. He looked down at the floor where some blood had gathered. That did happen whenever mutants got into fights, didn't it? Always the blood, unless Guy managed to get there first. Sadly, given Guy's stature, that wasn't often the case. He sighed, putting his hands into his pockets.

"You know that we've low tolerance for bullying. Those two," he jerked his head toward where the others had been dismissed, "are likely to get into far, far more trouble than the two of you. In point of fact, this would nearly be one of those situations where I could actually praise you for doing the right thing."

Another sigh as Guy looked down at the floor then up at Devyn. "Except that you lashed out with your powers, unprovoked and unsanctioned, which you know is a major misstep, Solway. You've got to get an official warning from this and increased training sessions, though I'd wager you already know that," he looked over at Andrew, scanning him. "You should probably get some more sessions too, but that's more of an overall suggestion." he looked at both of them, waiting, obviously expecting reactions of some sort.

Andrew listened as Guy glanced back towards them, speaking with a voice not soft or hard, not warm or cold, though more so, it felt like column of steam where fire and ice meet. To say these put the boy at ease wouldn’t be true, but at least he managed to look up, fidgeting, the man now casting his gaze across the hall with sharp precision causing an uneasy silence to fall around them.

Devyn was the first to speak up, Andrew barley able to open his mouth in protest before a short sigh hushed his words once more. Guy didn’t raise his voice, merely sliding his hands into his pant pockets, the noise whispering away into the light din always permeating the air no matter where you go in a school, especially this school, after a while you didn’t notice it, but at times like these, the sound almost seemed to press in from all sides. Not waiting long he began again, motioning towards the blood splattered floor with a turn of his head then, with another dispelling of breath, the words took a turn for the worse.

Official warning? Well it was better than a expulsion, but still, Andrew couldn’t just let Devyn take this his sake.

“s- sir- I- I- I no!” it was foolish, he wasn’t sure what to say, but heck, nothing like making an idiot of yourself to get the mind rolling. “I- I- mean, I- I-, i- it- ah- I did it- I attacked them sir” how Andrew was going to make this story believable in any sense of imagination was a mystery, though he kept at it, what was the worst thing that could happen? Get a detention for lying? At very least that might divert some of the blame. “I- I- ah- I didn’t mean to- it just kind of happened, I tried to punch him, then there were four of them, s- sir Devyn just stepped in to break it up- she didn’t do anything wrong!”

Devyn nodded her head as Guy went on to explain what he figured had happened and he pretty much was spot on. Either he had some other power of knowing what was going on when he was not around or he was just good at figuring a situation out. Devyn assumed the latter and the fact that Guy knew her very well and also knew Andrew. That pretty much game him more to work with when figuring out what had possibly happened. At least that was what Devyn assumed. "Pretty much." Devyn said simply with a small shrug of her shoulders. She didn't need to explain herself over the matter since Guy clearly understood and that was all there was to it. Andrew was getting beat up, Devyn came across it, and she did something about it.

Yes, she should not have used her power but even she was not that good to beat up a group of people without the use of her power. Plus she did actually plan for it to be an intimidation method, but things just sort of started happening. Devyn knew the school had a low tolerance for bullying but they also had a pretty low tolerance for people using their powers on others in an uncontrolled situation. She had done it before and at this rate she really did need to get herself in check before the school really started to lay down the law with her. Devyn wanted to smile a little at the fact that Guy said that normally he would praise them for this sort of thing, but the whole fact that she used her power was still in the air.

"I understand. Sorry again." Devyn said as she kept her eyes on the ground and just sort of scratched at her head. Her eyes avoiding Guy's was her way of submitting and also because she did feel bad that she was making Guy have to have more training sessions with her power. It was not like she was out of control...he emotions were...or others were. No, she could not blame it on others. Andrew was speaking up, wanting to take some of the blame or trying to take all of it. Devyn did smirk a little as she reached out a hand to carefully pat Andrew on his shoulder. "Hey, don't worry about it. Like he said we are not going to get into much trouble, I am because I used my power on someone and I know better." Devyn pointed out, not wanting Andrew to try and take blame for Devyn’s mistake on the matter.

As Andrew spoke, Guy looked over at him, waiting patiently while the nervous young man worked his way through the explanation. It didn't surprise the dwarf to hear Andrew protesting, insisting that he'd been the one to do the attack. Nor did it surprise him to hear Devyn essentially dismissing this story for the obvious fabrication it had to be. The trainer's attention swiveled from one student to the other as they spoke, though he remained silent all the while.

When they'd both finished, Guy picked up again: "Wylen, I appreciate you trying to cover for your friend," he looked at Devyn as he said that work, half wanting to check if he got that relationship right. He couldn't help but be curious as to who his students befriended, after all. "But if you'd attack, you'd likely still be in your canine form, as I can only hold one person's powers at bay at once," at least without incredible strain, though Guy didn't want to quite admit that much, "and I've been holding back Solway's powers, since I know that when she gets... worked up, her powers have a tendency to spiral out of control," he gave Devyn another look and a nod.

"Official warnings are something to be slightly concerned, as it puts you on a watch list and what have you. There's nothing too major to be concerned about until you gather a few, and considering these circumstances, I'll make sure that Devyn's is one of those with additional notes," he nodded again, then looked from one to the other, then around. "Now, neither of you needs to go to the nurse yourself, do you?" he continued looking, wondering if he should be ordering anyone to clean up the nearby area. Perhaps some blood had spilled or something...

Guy didn’t speak for a long minute, Andrew wanted to argue against Devyn’s reply though found his voice lost beneath the man’s stare and could do little, but stammer incoherently, gulping back a renewed wave of nervousness. Soon enough the hall was so silent he could he could have sworn he could hear the blood trickling down the opposite wall into a murky crimson puddle, instructors eyes weaving between them like a pendulum until finally after what felt like hours he eventually spoke, voice low, yet he did not seem particularly angry. Whatever the case, Guy wasn’t fooled by Andrew’s flimsy hastily fabricated story and besides, it was true, had he transformed he would likely still be in dog form, no doubt chasing his tail, trying to lick someone’s face, or something equally embarrassing. Still, he couldn’t help the guilt that clenched his stomach, looking down at his shoes where specks of blood had splattered the right foot leaving small pinpricks of red across its sole.

When asked if he had to go to the nurse Andrew shook his head no, his entire face and throat seared with pain if he did so much as flinch, but these were just bruises, there was really only so much the nurse could do and either way it would hurt a lot more tomorrow…

Guy didn't fall for Andrew's ploy to help get Devyn out of trouble, as Devyn had expected and Guy had made a very good point. Devyn did recall how Andrew did seem to lose himself right away when he used his power, which sucked. At least Devyn had control over herself and her human mind for a while before she lost control, unless unstable emotions were involved. Guy had pointed that part out, which had Devyn scratching the back of her head and staying silent since there was no way she could deny anything that was said there. It was true that she could end up being a bit of a lose canon when her emotions and her power got mixed in with one another but Devyn had been working on it for years and she personally thought that she was a lot better than when she had first come into her power. Or possibly a little worse since things were never really just calm and stable for her for a while now.

Stupid SPECTRE had messed all her hard work of keeping herself under control and now she felt like she had to start from scratch. Devyn didn't say anything while Guy spoke, still listening even if she sort of heard this speech before. She just gave Guy a nod when she got a look of question about their relationship. They were in fact just friends since Devyn didn't really go for those younger than her. Andrew was a close friend and sometimes it felt like he was something of a brother or at least a pack mate. "I'm good. Make Andrew here goes and heal up." Devyn said and she patted Andrew on the back hard enough to try and cause the boy to wince. The school did have healers so they could help out Andrew out a lot if he actually wanted to get better. Devyn wanted him better and it was why she had patted his back hard enough to let both Andrew know that he was in fact hurting and to also let Guy see that Andrew did need some medical treatment.

"I'm fine of course and I should probably start sneaking away before you try and give me some paperwork to fill out." Devyn said with a smirk as she tried to casual start stepping away from Andrew and Guy. She really didn't feel like filling out paper work over this matter but felt like there was always paperwork that had to be done.

The one who looked the most injured or sick insisted they weren't, while the other insisted he was. Well, that was more or less standard behavior from both of them. Guy looked from one to the other, a tired look of amusement on his face. He let them both get it out though, along with the bit about Devyn sneaking away before the paperwork came out.

"Oh, you'll be filling out paperwork. You'll both have to go in and talk to security staff about this," he looked to the wall. was that... blood? Well, that did happen from time to time here. It came as something of an additional side effect of putting so many teenagers with powers in one area. Guy sighed, shaking his head.

He then focused back on Devyn. "You should be more concerned about making your friend go get checked out. I'm not going to be forcing either of you to do anything besides check up. Now,' he nodded and gestured, "I need to go make sure the other two did as I asked. If you two need me, you know how to contact me."

Devyn responded with a pointed pat on Andrew’s shoulder, this time her touch was devoid of any of its previous avoidance and succeeded in leaving him wincing theatrically, an unexpected jolt running down his arm. The sharp pain wasn’t enough to make the boy bolt, or cry out, but it did leave his reaction abundantly evident, a fact which led the man’s eyes to linger for a moment on his quickly reddening complexion, desperately trying to keep the blush under control.

A weary look of vague mirth played across Guy’s face, gazing between the two as he spoke, words leaving with a faint finality, dismissive though not out of disregard, not anger, not joy, more so a sternness, a somberness held together by the remembrance of one’s youth. Andrew peered down, looking into the pooling blood though turned away quickly, feeling slightly sick to his stomach. It wasn’t the blood itself, while he was slightly squeamish when it came to such things, that wasn’t the true reason for his sudden nausea, instead the young shifter recalled quite another fight, one where he had been staring up at the merciless faces of three tormentors, the day the wall had broken, the day that had changed everything.

"Damn, I mean darn." Devyn responded back with a slight grumble since Guy had brought up paper work before she could gully sneak away. There was always paper work to do and security to talk to when this sort of thing happened. Didn't the school have cameras to just watch all that had happened? Cameras were all the proof Devyn really needed so long as someone didn't like fake what was on the camera since that apparently could not be done if you got a hold of the recording. Devyn was going to complain about it mostly mentally but she would get it done and help out Andrew with it. She had been in plenty of fights to know how the fill out the papers with her eyes closed. Not literally, but practically so it would be easy for her to help him out. "Got it. I'll make sure Andrew gets the papers done too and all that jazz." Devyn said with a nod and went about her whole patting Andrew to make him not be able to hide his pain.

Guy was then talking specifically to her about making sure Andrew went to get checked out himself since he was not forcing them to do anything. Damn. Devyn just wanted to go back to her room to get something to eat. While she could not actually taste the blood that had been in her mouth, she could smell it and she was always hungry after using her power. Not that the two were connected in anyway...at least she hoped that it was not the smell of blood that was making her really hungry this time around after using her power. Guy needed to go take care of things, which was understandable since he was a busy guy (ahaha, pun *ahem) and now he had to take care of this little fight as well. "Got it LeGuy. See you at training or around." Devyn said with a wave to Guy and then looked to Andrew for a moment. Not saying anything at first as she noticed the slight sickly look to Andrew.

"Need me to take you back to the Infirmary or do you think you can make it by yourself or without it?" Devyn asked because even if she wanted Andrew to go get looked at she could only force him there to a certain point. She literally had a hard time going into that area when she was conscious because that was where medication and needles where. So she personally wanted to avoid that area at all cases if she could help it but would at least get Andrew most of the way there if he needed her help.
