Kyle gazed to the trees, and managed to see a few birds, so fast that they looked like little flashes of different colors. But one or two of them were calmly sitting on branches. It felt as if they were trying to ridicule the two humans with their ability to fly, they didn’t have to worry about things as easy as holes. He took a better look at the camera, it seemed in nearly perfect condition, maybe a little dirty, but that was to be expected.
Help would probably be here soon, and that would be the end of her imprisonment. This would all be just a funny story to tell in the future and laugh about it, well, maybe far into the future. –“Yeah, I was a bit bored in the camp so I decided to take a little hike. The forest is beautiful and the weather is nice. I usually do it when I visit places like this one, though this whole situation is certainly a first for me “- He said and smiled afterwards. He checked his watch and nodded –“They won’t be long now “- He didn’t know if that was true or not, if they had understood his directions, or if they had trouble on the way. But he said it anyway, because it’s what he wanted to believe –“ I’m glad I found you “- And of course he was, who knew how much more time she would have spent in there if it hadn’t been for him and his love for the great outdoors. In the worst case scenario, the camping trip wouldn’t have been a good memory for the school or her family and friends. But that wasn't the case, she would be alright.

"I'm surprised you were bored: there's quite a lot going on," said Zoe, taking another deep breath. Most of the activities were just the sorts of things that Zoe didn't care for. Then again, groups of people made Zoe nervous as it was, let alone groups of people doing something thrilling or what have you.
Maybe she'd have been better off though, or, at least, not stuck in a whole.
"I'm glad you found me too," she admitted, smiling up at him. "though I'm quite certain that my cabin mates would miss me," she actually meant it too, which surprised her somewhat. But she'd met most of her cabin mates, talked to them, gotten to know them. They all seemed quite pleasant, especially Liz. Just thinking about it made Zoe nod. They would've found her; they might very well be looking for her now.
"Um," she said, realizing that she was stuck in another position where she should probably be talking, but she didn't know what to say. She fidgeted again. She really just wished he could've lifted her from the hole, though she supposed it didn't matter, so long as she got rescued in the end.

There might have been several fun things going on in camp, but Kyle hadn’t had to opportunity to explore since he got here, and everything else could wait. It was true, her friends must have noticed her absence by now. They might have even started to search for her. The news had probably spread throughout the camp by now, of my phone call and all of that had happened, as far as they knew. Some students with useful powers might come, but it didn’t seem necessary, just a simple rope and a person or two could take care of this without any danger. Still, she seemed impatient. In her shoes, Kyle would just stay there talking until help came. Why risk it? This incident could lead to investigation regarding who the hell made this hole. Something good might come of it.
The silence that grew between the two caused Kyle to nervously rub the back of his head. He picked up the branch with one hand and stood up, using it for support. He then raised it on top of the hole so she could see it –“I can still try to bring you out myself “- He said with a shrug, in case she wanted to try it.

Zoe looked up as she heard Kyle speaking again, meeting his eyes. She blinked, fidgeted again. "You don't have to if you don't want to," she said, speaking softly. She rubbed her arm for a bit, shifting her feet again. "I mean, you already called for help. They'll probably be here soon, right?"
In fact, Zoe was a little surprised someone hadn't shown already. She did know that there weren't any staff members with super speed or what have you, but she'd hoped that they'd at least send someone to check on them.
"I wouldn't want you to get stuck down here too," Zoe added, flushing, obviously embarrassed to even have found herself in a hole, let alone at the thought of accidentally dragging someone else down with her.

Kyle chuckled at her comment and was about to respond when he felt something shifting in the woods. People often didn't understand the boy's mutation, simply thinking of it as the ability to move metal around. But the truth was slightly more complicated. He could also "feel" anything with a strong enough electromagnetic field, and that includes some animals. The same way several species sharks do to find their prey.
Up until now, he had felt nothing aside from Zoe's, as there seemed to be only small critters and birds around them, and their field was potent enough to be noticed by him unless very close. But his "radar" had just picked up some activity, coming closer. Kyle turned away from Zoe and the hole, looking off into the woods. Even though he could feel it, the boy wasn't able to tell this particular type of magnetic field apart from others, since they were very weak. Meaning it could be help, or a freaking bear. Wait, are there bears here ? Time to read up on Montana wildlife.
He was able to see the silhouettes of two people walking around through the woods in front of him and his face lit up like a Christmas tree. -" Over here !! "- He shouted, waving his arms wildly.

Zoe heard Kyle moving around above her, and she shifted slightly. She thought about calling up, getting his attention somehow, if only to ask what it was that was causing him to move around. Soon though, she heard him moving about and shouting, his waving arms really leaving only one option as to what was going on. Zoe practically squealed for joy, giving a little hop.
"Down here!" she called, cupping her hands around her mouth and actually managing to yell. She only did it once though, before realizing that Kyle was pretty much doing it. She could hear people coming close, and assumed it was probably a few older students along for the ride. There were a few teachers, but they were just as likely to send someone who happened to have useful powers as for one of them to come themselves. Zoe did think she'd seen Mr. Konrad running around, but she didn't know for certain whether he'd volunteer to come forward.
Whoever it was, they'd have to talk with Kyle and get things situated. Still, Zoe backed up a bit, wanting to get a good look up the hole to see what was going on.

The following events leading up to the rescue didn’t take long, after all, nobody was in the mood for chitchat when there was a girl in a hole waiting to get out. The Physical Education teacher, Mr. Slade, had always scared the bejesus out of Kyle, especially at the beginning. When the boy first came to school, he nearly mistook him for a WWE fighter. Though now it was more respect than fear. Seems like Kyle wasn’t too far off when he thought it was a bear. The teacher also brought a student, though Kyle didn’t know the person. Said student seemed to have some kind of tracking power, which made sense to Kyle. Send the freakishly strong teacher and a student that can help him in case Slade gets lost.
Kyle told them all he knew about the situation, and the new rescuers said some comforting words to the trapped girl before lowering a strong rope for her to climb out. The boy had no doubt that Slade could probably pull her out by himself, but he didn’t want to feel useless, even if, according to the teacher, he had done enough already, so he helped him in the task at hand. It did not take much effort to get her out of there after that.

Relief flooded through Zoe as she beheld Mr. Konrad, a longstanding guardian of hers. The relief soon gave way to embarrassment, as she realized that he was there to rescue her yet again. Zoe brushed the thought aside, reaching for the rope as it lowered to her. Her gloved hands took it easily enough.
For a moment, Zoe wondered if she'd need to climb up. She figured she probably could with the rope there and everything. However, she soon found herself being lifted. She let out a little squeal at the first surge, before hugging the rope tight to her body. Zoe pinched her eyes shut and felt herself go up out of the hole bit by bit, till at last, arms reached down to pull her out.
As always, Zoe tensed when people touched her, feeling their fingers through her clothing. Thankfully, said clothing shielded them from her ability. Enough burly men were able to lift Zoe clear of the hole, setting her down. She couldn't find her legs, and instead slouched there, panting and fighting back tears. Still, she looked over at Kyle, smiling gratefully, glad to get a better look at her rescuer. Words may have failed her, but that smile most certainly didn't.

Slade gave Kyle a soft punch on the shoulder, or at least soft by the giant’s standards and said something that Kyle took as a “Well done”, though he was probably being optimistic. The bulking teacher had done most of the lifting, though intention is what counts. Kyle wondered if they had come in a vehicle and assumed that was the case, after all, they didn’t know if Zoey was hurt or not when they came here, and even though Slade could probably carry her, it wouldn’t have been practical. Said vehicle was apparently outside of Kyle’s range and it made sense, since they had probably had to leave the wide path some time ago to get to them, and a car couldn’t get through.
The boy made his way towards Zoey as Slade talked on a walkie-talkie to someone –“ This is going to make a good camp-fire story “- He said, nervously rubbing the back of his neck. He had enjoyed being the hero for a day, and meeting her been a fun experience as well, she seemed like the girl you wanted to be friends with, even shyer than he was –“ I’m glad you’re alright and that…”- The professor shouted some instructions that honestly felt like military orders and went on his way along with the other student, giving them both a chance to catch up as they made their way to the vehicle.

Mr. Konrad made certain to check with Zoe, and naturally the attention made the shy girl blush and seem to shrink all the further. She suffered through it more or less though, smiling toward the end. She had made it out of the hole, after all, and she knew she certainly had someone to thank for it. She even began the thanks by mouthing the words to Kyle while Mr. Konrad gave her a quick hug and patted her down.
No injuries, no real trouble, though she took a swig of a water bottle and agreed to head straight back to camp. When Kyle came back up, she favored him with another shy smile. "Thanks to you," she replied, nodding. "Thank you very much," another shy smile, and another pull of the bottle. "Um, I can try to make it up for you sometime... not that I want you to fall in a hole or anything but, like, I could, um, take your picture or something some time..."
Zoe felt a little lame, offering that. It hardly seemed like a fair trade. It was what she had to offer though, as she didn't exactly have a large bankroll or any other impressive skills. She flushed, but the staff were already calling her quite insistently. Zoe took several steps that way, looking to Kyle again, knowing that she'd certainly have to get moving...
