one last shot, because, after all, there weren't any such things as cheap shots in a real fight, when it mattered. Though Demi also realized that such thoughts would likely end up killing her at some point. That day might even be today, considering that she faced down a man made entirely of steel who practically caved the ground in with each step.
Still, Demi didn't care.
He gave her the opening she wanted. She grinned wolfishly as he extended the hand. Demi slapped a hand into it: a perfectly clean, almost pink hand into it. She pulled up, using his offering and the momentum to launch her body forward. A mental command pushed her dirty and dusty body forward a little as well. Then, with a sharp yell, she thrust her other hand forward, sending dirt and dust directed right into the guy's face.
Of course, the drawback was that Demi still had a hold on him, and there was a very good chance that he'd be about to throw her again, and she'd just used a fair amount of her shield. Demi didn't care: she wanted that one last good hit and would do what it took to get it. And, to be honest, she wasn't thinking so much about the future pain at that exact moment.

Slade's eyes narrowed as he caught the flash of clean, white skin being enveloped by his massive, meaty hand. That didn't seem right, the girl was always covered in at least a thin layer of her element. The alarm went off in his brain just a fraction of a second too late. And he'd even expected some sort of dirty (no pun intended) fighting from the girl. Even as the dirt and dust sprayed his face, getting into his eyes and blurring his vision, Slade was thankful he'd maintained his metallic form. Demi was just the type of sparring partner that would use every trick available to gain an upper hand. In a way, it was commendable.
Unfortunately for Demi, her first instinct was correct. Slade did still have a hold on her hand and the spray of earth into his face only caused him to recoil, yanking the girl upward and flinging her off to the side with great force. The big man stumbled backward, hands coming up to brush what dirt could be removed from his metallic facial features. His eyes were somewhat guarded in this form, but he still felt the sting and his vision was marred. If he'd shifted back into his fleshy form, he would've been in a ton of trouble. "Goddammit." He cursed as he pressed a palm into his eye. He blinked repeatedly as tears formed in his body's attempt to cleanse the debris from his eyes. "You got me you little shit." He growled, although malice was, surprisingly, missing from his voice. It was more of a simple admission. He'd broken one of his own rules. Namely, when you were up against someone who had none, you couldn't have any either. Lesson learned.

"Yessss!" hissed Demi, enjoying her victory, even as she knew that it would only be a momentary one. Did he... wait a second, it actually looked like he'd started crying. Score! Oh ,Demi had no doubt that she was about to have the ever loving crap knocked out of her in a way that would leave her limping for a few days (and/or possibly unconscious in the infirmary). Demi didn't care: she'd proven that she could do some damage.
"Got ya goooood," she sang out, wiggling a bit. Oh, the flinging thing had hurt. Demi had bounced on the ground and knew that her little body would feel it. Still, she'd pulled her panting, already aching body up, and the elation of what she'd managed definitely overcame the pains she felt throughout her body. "You're gonna have to really put me down if you want me to stop," she informed him, grinning wide. The dirt even showed in her teeth, but it did little to dampen her obvious enthusiasm.

Slade exhaled sharply. He couldn't admonish himself for underestimating his opponent's skill set, only her tenacity. He brushed the dirt from his metallic cheeks and shook his head to clear the cobwebs while attempting to blink away the blurriness from his vision. Still, though, the big man refused to lose control. However, if he needed to try harder to end this scrap, so be it.
The first order of business was to close the distance. As intimidating as Slade's metallic form was, it wasn't effective at long range. Rushing forward, like a calculated bull, Slade looked to get within arm's reach. He wasn't attempting an attack just yet as proper position was the key here. That and part of him was curious to see just exactly what the extent of Demi's capabilities were.
Ugh, here's where the stamina thing came into play. Demi could see the large man charging and knew that she certainly couldn't manage it. Not while her body yelled at her. This wasn't about to make the girl stop; if anything it just added a little thrill to the whole challenge. She held still and watched Slade charge, timing.
Then she rolled out of the way, moving a little more sloppily then she had moments before. It didn't stop her from flinging a hand out, fingers splayed, and attempting to blast Slade's charging feet with another shot of the dirt and debris. Demi also used to roll to sink into the arena's stone ground, even while she felt her body and will screaming at her. So when she stopped, she'd pried a layer off the arena, giving her a stream of gravelly debris to work with, the chunks held near her thanks to Demi's sheer will.

The blast to his feet caused the big man to stumble. A hand came out and slammed into the ground to steady himself. Slade didn't tumble to the ground, but it did halt his charge and allowed Demi more space to work with, which fed into her power's advantage. There was a moment's pause as Slade sized Demi up. She seemed to grow more resourceful as the fight wore on. To say the least, Slade was impressed.
Still, Slade wasn't one to give up. Mostly because he knew Demi wouldn't. Of course he had no intentions on losing his job by getting into a fight with a student so the proper clearances had been granted before meeting with Demi and the proper safety protocols were being followed. A healer was on stand by. Slade knew this. And Slade intended on putting them to use.
He crouched, squaring himself up with Demi before he exploded forward. Slade had played football in high school and still knew the proper tackling technique. This, however, was more akin to an attempt at a pro-wrestling spear that a form tackle by a professional. He'd take her down and drive her into the ground. If he could just get his hands on the squirrely girl first.

See, the only thing Demi Smith could do well was fight, specifically fight with her mutant power. She knew it; she owned it; she wanted everyone else to know it. So again, she found herself staring down an absolutely massive guy who clearly knew what he was doing. Most people would be frightened, especially if they were already starting to bleed out the nose and feeling as though said guy had already trampled over them.
Demi got excited.
She yelled and instead of running away, figured she had one last shot. She pushed off the ground, using her power to turn her body into a gravelly missile. First, first, she had to run, and she did, pushing her body to charge into Slade's charge. Then, right before the collision, she launched herself forward, her lean body narrowing. Oh, she knew it was going to hurt, and he'd probably pin her down, but she was determined to at least go out with yet another bang.
Possibly literally, if the gravel sprayed just right.

To say that Slade hadn't expected Demi to hurl herself headlong at him while he charged was the understatement of the year. The move didn't completely get Slade off balance or cause him to stop his charge, but it did give him pause and pulled his mind out of the fight for just a split second. When Demi's slight form, accompanied by the earth she'd gathered along, slammed into him Slade grunted as the force nearly brought him to a dead stop. He stumbled some, but was able to keep his balance as he skidded to a halt, his boots digging into the soil beneath him.
Slade wasn't able to shrug off the force of the blow as if it was nothing, but he was able to recover quickly as the surprise of the girl's gutsy move faded away. He'd feel it where she hit him in the morning, that he knew, but for now his mind was locked on one goal. To keep her down for good. Hoping he could react faster than she'd be able to, Slade lunged to get his hands on her again, this time looking to drive her into the ground and keep her there for the time being.

Surprisingly, colliding with a giant dude made of steel hurt.... a lot. Demi felt the collision all over her body: it drove the air from her and would doubtless leave her bruised and battered come the next day, and quite possibly for several days after that. She didn't care. She'd started laughing even as Slade drove her down. The floor hit hard, stopping the laughter for a bit, but Demi seemed to relax almost immediately. Her head spun and she felt pretty well beat up... and it was just great.
"This is so awesome,' she said, rolling her eyes and head to look away from the moment, clearly not believing it. "Just so freakin' cool..." even as she felt the pain spreading, and knew that her body would be a collage of purple and black.
