"Right, you said that," replied Tim, rubbing the back of his head. Well, at least his ability to put his foot in his mouth still remained intact. It seemed like all the talk of parents and stuff kept getting Lux more and more down or something. Nice to be prepared? Prepared for what? Did her power turn her into some kinda sideshow freak in the future?
No, no, if she wanted to share, she would. Don't push her. Just sit there and picture Lux with an antenna growing out of her head. that is obviously much more productive and useful and such. She did talk about it as a cool connection, so maybe he hadn't completely messed up? Yeah, that would be a first. She soon changed the topic and Tim, always eager to take the easy way out, pounced on it.
"Anytime you want's fine with me," he said, shrugging. "It's best to go at dusk though, since, y'know, nocturnal and all. You actually want to show up just a little before the sun's down. They don't mind waking up a little early to talk to people. They'll probably think you're weird though, because, uh, well, you're, well, white," he took a sip of his coffee and looked away, not figuring he should mention that bats could essentially be racists from time to time. This conversation was awkward enough, thankyouverymuch.

Luxanna was actually little bit sad about dropping the subject; Of course, she didn't feel comfortable telling people she was eventually going to end up dead, but she didn't want to hide it either. At least not from someone like Tim; It seemed... Mean in a way. But this was hardly the time, right? And considering what happened the last time she told someone... Well, she didn't want that to be repeated.
"That's fine," she nodded. After all, Lux didn't mind dusk; If anything, she quite preferred it. That and dawn. Those were her favorite times of the day. Arching her eyebrow, Luxanna couldn't help but to smile, "They're racist? Wow, who would have known," she chuckled. "Not in a million years would I ever have imagined that. Well, guess I have to brace myself then." Was she worried? Not at all. If anything, it just made the creatures sound even more adorable.
"How about we go today then?" she asked, "Unless you don't want to, of course, which is fine," she added quickly. She didn't want to push him. After all, it was his thing to show and not hers. She sort of felt as if she was sticking her nose where it did not belong.
"And in return, I'll show you my furby collection, and show you my favorite horror movie," she beamed, sounding a little more excited about it than what she probably should have.

"Not, like, super racist. Just a little," said Tim, holding his fingers up and showing a very slim distance between them. "And if you think about it, you're probably racist against like, cats or something," he shrugged. "Everyone's got something they hate without really thinking it. But yeah just---wait, today?"
Tim pulled his phone out for a moment, flipping through, pretending like he had actually had a life and was actually super excited about spending nearly an entire day with Lux. He looked at the blank phone screen with great interest, nodding and chewing his lip. "No, no," he said as she continued, waving his free hand, 'I want to! That would be awesome; I just have to rearrange my schedule," which apparently amounted to "write up new blog" tonight, so, yeah, definitely something he could put off for the time being.
While he "rearranged things," Tim listened, listened and then chuckled, looking up. "So in return for introducing you to potentially adorable creatures and actually interpreting their thoughts for you, you're going to terrify me, and then terrify me some more," Tim gestured with his phone each time, then nodded. "Yep, that sounds like my usual outings with girls. Totally on board," and he grinned at that, hoping that it didn't sound as stupid as he totally thought it did. She'd probably laugh anyway; that was pretty much how Lux worked.

"A little racist, oh okay," she laughed. Cocking her head a little, the brunette pursed her lips, "Zombies," she explained, "As much as I love movies about them, I'd most likely beat them with a bat had I met one up close." She smirked at that though. She couldn't really think of anything she hated; At least not from the top of her head. Sure, there was probably something, because Lux knew for a fact that she wasn't a saint. Far from it, actually. Why people kept insisting she was good was beyond her.
Luxanna remained quiet when Tim flipped up his phone. She was almost tempted to tell him that they could save it for another day if he was busy, but then he spoke up. She didn't want to trouble him, as that hadn't been her intention at all. But, she wanted to hang out with him, and he had told her it was okay - more or less - so it was okay for her to be a little selfish, right?
And instantly when thinking that, the brunette felt a pang of guilt grow from the pit of her stomach.
"Yes!" Luxanna nodded, "And my furbies aren't scary," she protested again, smiling softly as she shook her head. Why he kept insisting they were scary she didn't understand, but ack, as long as he didn't run out of the room screaming when they started talking, she wouldn't complain. "It's not like they're gonna--" she stopped there, chuckling a little as she shrugged. "Okay, maybe they will." She mused at that; It would be absolutely perfect if they started talking in the middle of a scary scene or something, wouldn't it?

"See, zombies," said Tim, glancing up from his phone, "you'd just beat one and who knows, they could be those really hot kind that have developing emotions or something," yes, he'd heard about the sexy zombie movie. he hadn't actually wasted any money on said movie, but you couldn't pay attention to the internet without noticing a few things.
Though Tim didn't notice some stuff in front of him, like Lux's obvious discomfort as he fiddled with his phone. That certainly hadn't been his intention at all, but, well, he never seemed to actually manage to do what he set out to do. Thankfully, he didn't actually notice any of this, so, well, it was mostly just him staring at his phone and eventually making a "clever remark."
Which had her protesting and smiling. He smiled back, a soft, real smile that he hoped conveyed that he was, in fact, teasing her about the whole thing. Who wouldn't? Especially since she seemed to react to anything. Tim could probably tell her that he was some kind of space alien sent to the planet to understand how people work and she'd believe him. It... it made him want to be more honest with her, and he suddenly recalled how very often he didn't do that, mostly to make himself look better. His smile had a slightly guilty bend to it, since Tim did about as good at hiding emotions as he did flirting with pretty girls.
"Oh damn, I know that look," he said, pointing, "that's the 'I have a diabolical plan' look. I'm gonna end up chained to a wall with furbies attached to my nipples or somethi--oh God," he covered his face with a hand, looking down, "why do you let me talk? Why? I should just sit here and nod or something," he rubbed at his face again, at least being thankful that he couldn't, like, really blush or anything. Lux probably didn't care anyway, she was probably giggling it. "So, yeah," he moved his hand, looking at her between fingers, "dusk. Bats. Furbies. Scary movies. Sounds like a pretty standard date to---standard evening out! Evening out! Not a date! Not," he groaned again, "see, this is what I meant. I should just... stop the whole talking thing. You have my permission to take the coffee and run, but you won't, because you're awesome and incredible and WHY AM I STILL TALKING?"
Post by Luxanna Viera on Jun 21, 2014 1:28:00 GMT -6
Grimacing, Luxanna shook her head, "See, that's why people are gonna get killed if the zombie apocalypse breaks out," she said quickly, waving her arms a little as if to demonstrate. Demonstrate what exactly, she didn't know. "I've watched enough horror movies to know what not to do," she added with a grin. "So no; If you see a zombie, you either kill it or run." Ah yes, she had everything planned out. From where to go, to what she would do once the zombies started infecting people. Was that odd? Probably. But it was better to be prepared just in case, right? Right!
That Tim was lying - or being less than honest was something Luxanna hadn't caught on at all. She was gullible, sure, but she put far too much trust in people to believe they were even capable of lying. In a way, she really, truly believed everyone was good, despite their actions and what they had done in the past. She wanted to give everyone a fair shot even though she was warned against doing so, and simply believing someone was being serious - or at least honest was an easy feature for the adaptor. And considering the fact that she found Tim both awesome - and he had been nothing but nice to her, believing his every word was probably the easiest.
However, as Tim started talking with no end, Luxanna remained quiet. Instead, she sat there, smiling as he went on and on about... Well, everything. Leaning forward, the brunette rested her arms on the table and planted her chin firmly against the top of them. Narrowing her eyes a little, she pursed her lips before sighing, "Why do you always do that?" she asked curiously, "Saying something, and then freak out about it? Don't you just make it worse by pointing it out?" Was the idea of a date with her really that horrible that he freaked out when thinking she'd take it the wrong way? Reaching her hand out, Luxanna pulled at his hand to lower it from his face, "Either the concept of a date with me is alien to you -- or you're afraid I'm going to be uncomfortable," she said silently, "If it's the first, then that's fine. You don't have to make up excuses," she said and tilted her head ever so slightly, "But if it's the latter," she paused, "I wouldn't be. Uncomfortable that is."

"Well, know who's house I'm running to screaming like a little girl when the zombie thing happens," replied Tim, keeping it flippant and light for those few seconds. mostly because of the great amount of word vomit that would erupt soon enough. At least most of the word vomit was, y'know, truth. Lux remained quiet through it, then leaned forward. Tim looked up at him.
Why did he always do that? Before Tim could offer a stupid answer, and his mouth was definitely moving already, Lux had started, outlining first what he'd said in terms that made him wince. Yeah, yeah, that sounded about right, come to think of it. Easier to point it out than do something about it. Though it seemed like the next bit, that might be her... doing something about it? Tim looked, not quite believing it. No, the concept of dating Lux wasn't alien; a bit of something that came out of some kind of weird dream or something, but not really alien. The uncomfortable thing though...
"Well, like," he rubbed at his head, "okay, so---I think you're, y'know, awesome, and stupidly pretty, and by that I obviously mean that you make me stupid. And I just-- I didn't want to, y'know, assume," he gestured, then sighed, "I didn't want to be all like 'we're totally going on a date, wink wink,'" he gestured and dropped his voice to brow level, even leaning forward. He kept that, gesturing wildly for a few moments. "It's just---I dunno. I don't---okay, I do, which is the problem, but, I feel like I shouldn't, I dunno, trap you or trick you into going on a date with me. Like, if you want to keep being friends, though I guess we could anyway that would be---cool too. Like, I'll still do the bat thing and the movie thing and probably still be like 'wow, she is totally awesome' only with slightly less thoughts about, I dunno, stuff," yeah, he wasn't touching that. He sighed and leaned back, rubbing his face. "I am making this way harder than it needs to be, aren't I?" he looked at her, lowering his arms and smiling ruefully.

Squinting her eyes as Tim started speaking, Luxanna tried her best to catch it all, and remembering it, but after a few seconds, even she understood that that was... More or less impossible. Instead of even trying to decipher his words, Luxanna sat there with an empty expression as she blinked, obviously confused. "Wow, okay," she laughed, "I barely got any of that," she admitted with an apologetic smile. She lifted her hand though, as if to gesture for him to remain quiet; Neither of them needed another word-vomit of madness to break free. It was adorable, but it didn't exactly make her any wiser. If anything, it just made the entire thing more confusing and harder to understand.
Sighing, Luxanna lifted her head, "You know," she said slowly, "You can just ask me instead of worrying. I mean, it's not like I'm going to bite your head off or anything." At that she arched her eyebrow a little. "I'm dense," she explained, "I don't... Understands hints or stuff like that," she added with a sigh. She was extremely oblivious to the world around her. Even she knew that it could be hard, since she often had to be spoon fed the information people wished to convey; So what Tim was doing didn't exactly make it any easier. She wasn't going to hold that against him of course.
"Do you want it to be a date?" she then asked. She found it a little odd though, how she felt more at ease and less... Awkward around him. She didn't know why; Maybe it was because he was plenty enough awkward for the both of him, or maybe she just felt comfortable around him not to be. Either way, it was a nice feeling. Not having to worry about everything, and being able to express herself through words rather than blushing and feeling as if her head was about to catch on fire. "Because-" she began and moved her gaze away from his face, "-I wouldn't... Mind that."
Not that she had a whole lot of experiences with the topic of dates and the like, but she knew for a fact that she enjoyed spending time with him, and he made her feel more at ease. More than anyone else had up until now, and he was funny and he was nice. She enjoyed his company.

Just... ask? Man, did Lux not understand the trials of being a nerdy guy faced with a hot girl, even if said girl happened to be about as much a giant dork as you (and at this point, even Tim had to admit that he was falling for Lux's personality at least as much as her looks [yes, "at least' not more, because Tim's penis still ruled for the most part]). "You're not--" began Tim, but he remembered the hand gesture, so he gestured at his mouth, zipping it shut.
Did he want it to be--- seriously? Of course he did. He brightened to say so, remembering the whole thing, and, well, she looked away and mentioned that she wouldn't, mind that. and all the bells of jubilation went off within Tim's mind at once, along with fireworks, roaring rock anthems, and what was apparently a brier lit to the divine muse Melusine. Thankfully, his brain didn't shut off completely for once, though he did grin like a moron, so there was that.
"yeah, yeah, I'd love it if we went on a date together," he said, making sure to speak slowly and clearly this time, carefully enunciating and everything. It did sound a little weird, but at least he wasn't essentially word vomiting or spitting words at Frank Cox speed. "You're really awesome, Lux. I--well, I kinda had this crush on you, because you're pretty and--well, now we're friends and--and I'm doing it again," he chuckled, rubbing at his face. "You know, I don't think that's gonna stop. So, like, let me put it this way: it would be totally awesome if you'd want the whole bat thing to be our first date together."
And Tim was tempted to add that he just flat out would love spending time with Lux because, well, he felt like he could keep doing the word vomit thing and she'd just giggle or something. It... worked, or something.
Post by Luxanna Viera on Jun 22, 2014 18:36:30 GMT -6
Cocking her head to the side, Luxanna knitted her eyebrows together. Perhaps a little confused, she wanted to ask just what he'd meant about the crush thing, but Tim more or less stopped himself from talking, and it made her a little uncertain about whether or not she should ask or not. It was no secret - at least not to her - that she had absolutely no idea about the topic. Luxanna herself had never experienced 'crushes', and she wasn't sure how to know if she did. But then again, it didn't really matter in the end, did it? What mattered was that they had fun together and enjoyed each other's company. Everything else could be dealt with later...Right?
Besides, she didn't want to embarrass him by asking. Or maybe, that was just what she told herself in order to avoid the topic altogether. The last time she had poked the bear, things had gotten extremely awkward. Not with Tim though, but Ricky. She still didn't know what all of that had been about.
"Alright," she said, nodding, "Then it's a date," she said and offered Tim a sheepish smile. "I've never been on a date before," she mused, "Well, not that I know of anyways.." she added with a laugh. Did prom count as a date? No, no she didn't think so. She had been far too focused on hiding and getting away from the spotlight. Really though, Luxanna enjoyed her invisible life and attention made her awkward. She hoped something like that wouldn't happen again, because she wasn't sure if she'd manage to get away like she had last time; Luckily, her 'dance partner' had been Franck, and the boy hadn't really minded her wanting to get away.
"When do we leave?" Luxanna asked and leaned back in her chair.
Post by Tim Tawfeek on Jun 23, 2014 1:10:36 GMT -6
Tim returned the sheepish smile with a far more genuine one. He had to watch it though; he knew if he smiled too much, the expression was likely to end up stuck on his face. Not that he was really considering that a bad thing right now though. When Lux said she hadn't, he had to shake his head. "Man, people are stupid. I'm, like, past where I should say I don't believe you, and just pretty much assuming that everyone else is stupid. But yeah," he shrugged, "pretty sure dating's not that different from hanging out, just with a lot more romance and an option to kiss at some point."
Which Tim was only going to take if he got some kind of clear signal. which, as this was Lux, most likely meant that Tim wasn't going to do anything until Lux practically asked. Surely that won't end producing some kind of awkward result in the near future. That would just be silly.
As for the next question, Tim flipped his phone to check the time. "Well, we'll need a little bit to get to the cave and all, but we will wanna get there close to nightfall," he hesitated for a moment, looking over at Lux. "Did, uh, you want to go get changed or something? I mean, normally people dress up for dates, but we're also going to a cave with bats and, well, if they get excited they might," he smiled apologetically, raising his brows, "poop on you."
And thus did Tim prove that he is the foremost expert in how to impress a girl on the first date. Bat guano to the hair: the surest way to get to first base on the first date that you could imagine. Clearly he should be writing manuals on how this whole thing works.
Post by Luxanna Viera on Jun 24, 2014 8:02:33 GMT -6
The idea of kissing had Luxanna blushing; Luckily, not to an extend where it was overly visible, but it was still obvious (At least to her) that the idea of it - and the concept - made her more than a little uncomfortable. Not in a bad way, of course, but she wasn't exactly used to the idea, and seeing as how she had only kissed once, briefly, she didn't have enough experience on it to really... Well, then again, she didn't know what dating meant either, so she was going to follow Tim's lead all the way forward. Or something.
"Yeah, I suppose you're right," she said, smiling. Even with the uncomfortableness, Luxanna would have been lying had she claimed that she didn't look forward to going on an official date with the boy, even if she wasn't entirely sure about her own feelings. But again, that didn't really matter right now as long as she enjoyed being around him and with him. She was one hundred percent sure she'd figure out how she felt one way or another.
Shaking her head to his question, Luxanna smiled, "Nah, I don't really care," she laughed, "I've never been the dress up kind of person anyways," she admitted. Sure, she had no issues with doing so, or something similar, but it just wasn't her at all. Just like make-up and other 'girly' stuff wasn't like her either. "I'm sure I'll live," Luxanna said with a shrug. If worst came to worst, she could always change back once she was back at the dorm. It wasn't like it was going to kill her or anything.
Intertwining her fingers, Luxanna rested them on top of the table; Her cheeks a little bit red, but nothing out of the ordinary, "I'm looking forward to spending some time with you."
Post by Tim Tawfeek on Jun 24, 2014 22:47:36 GMT -6
Was it just Tim or was Lux... blushing? In his experience, pretty girls usually got attention, but, well, he was beginning to understand Lux a little better. She might have been absolutely gorgeous in Tim's eyes, but that didn't seem to be quite as widely held a belief as he had originally believed or, well, at least Lux didn't seem aware of it. She probably loved getting the attention, and Tim had no qualms about continuing it. Beautiful people like Lux deserved it, even if Tim didn't get anything in return.
Didn't get anything in return? Gah, he might as well stamp his passport for the Friend Zone and buy first class tickets.
Tim chuckled, more at Lux's words than his own thoughts. Yeah, he could see that she didn't seem to care as much for dressing up and the girly stuff, outside of Furbies, and those were less "girly" and more "cutely weird." "Hey, look on the bright side, you'll be the most beautiful female in the cave, and I hear guano's totally in this year," he said, "and if there is poop, then that just means that I can only go up on the second date---if we get that far," he was going to end up pummeling his head on the table, and he was looking away now.
"But yeah, I love hanging out with you and all, but I keep saying that. I'm sure the bats will dig you too, though, uh, hopefully they don't see your head as a giant target..." he should stop mentioning poop, but he appeared to be stuck. He was just remembering the time he'd gone in and there had been some kind of bad bug going through... not good, not good at all... He swallowed, then checked his time. They could probably start going now; walking and they'd get there soon enough. Wasn't that far out of town. Well, they'd have to catch the bus to the limits first...
Post by Luxanna Viera on Jul 2, 2014 23:47:09 GMT -6
"I'll be the only female in the cave," she pointed out, "Well, the only human female anyways," she added quickly with a laugh. Though, the compliment didn't go unnoticed by, even to her, "Thank you, though," she said honestly and smiled. "I appreciate it." It didn't help the ever-growing blush. It almost felt as if her cheeks had caught on fire. She was pretty sure even the tips of her ears were glowing at this point and the red hue had probably started spreading down her neck - if that was even possible for a blush. Was it? She didn't know. She had never really cared to find out, and it wasn't like she looked herself in the mirror while blushing either.
"And yes, you really need to stop talking about poop," she said and grimaced. As for the second date, Luxanna was one hundred percent sure the first one was going to be a lot of fun, so she didn't think she'd mind a second one. Though, she wasn't going to push it or anything. They had all the time in the world -- well, kind of. With her power, she had a reduced lifetime by like, sixty years or more. She wasn't going to think about that though. That hardly mattered, seeing as how she still had at least ten plus years.
"Just say the word," she smiled, "I'm really excited," she mused silently and offered the boy a chuckle. Really though, she was looking forward to seeing the boy more out of his element, which was ironic seeing as how he was about to show her his power, and show it to her in an environment that seemed like something that would be out of his element, 'cause Luxanna could only picture the guy around techno- she really had no idea where she was going with this at all.
Okay, so the compliments were actually working. Of course they were: Lux wasn't really used to getting them. So long as Tim actually found ways of actually meaning them though. Which shouldn't be too hard, seeing as, well, she kept coming up with new and impressive ways of being compliment-worthy and all.
Though he wasn't going to get anywhere if he kept talking about poop. "At least we know one subject to never broach ever again," said Tim, attempting to sound bright about it. "We can totally cross poop off the list of subjects that we have both talked about and does not work," okay, like, he really just needed to stop talking altogether. Ah, an opening. She was excited to go. He just had to say something.
"Right, that sounds like a plan. I sound a lot less like an idiot in bat. Mostly because it's just squeaking and stuff," Tim said. He rose, nodding a few times before looking down at the mugs. He ducked down to grab them both, noticing that neither had really drunk much. Well, the flavor had been weird. Oh, his laptop too. Tim looked for it, then at the mugs in his hand, then he tried bending at the knees, reaching out with an elbow to snag the laptop and sort of drag it closer to him. He stuck his tongue out as he worked at it, confident that he could, like, totally get it without any help.
