Good, the stuffed animals were good. Why wouldn't they be good? It wasn't like Zoe lived with a sadist or something. The animals, the Pikachu, the wolf, prized possessions now, and both having come from Devyn. Why had she brought them up? Was Devyn trying to hint at something? Zoe didn't know; she found that she really just didn't want to think about it all that much right now. Easier to just crawl into Devyn, lay down, enjoy the hand on her back.
Taking care of herself, "Yes," said Zoe, sounding almost petulant. She didn't need Devyn caring for her... okay, she did, but she wanted to at least sound like she didn't need Devyn taking care of her. She'd tended to her wounds, slept well. True, she still didn't eat all that much, but she wasn't starving herself. She just... didn't see much point in the whole exercise of eating. There were more important things to do.
"How are you feeling?" Zoe asked, having realized that she hadn't actually brought that up before. was that selfish? Possibly. Did that make Zoe selfish? She didn't want to think about it; she certainly didn't want to think of herself like that, no, not like that...

Yeah, the whole stuff animal question was a bit of a weird one to ask, but Devyn didn't know what else to ask to change the subject away from the whole love confession. Plus it got to her main goal of wanting to know how Zoe was doing, that was what Devyn cared about. She didn't care about how she was doing; it was about how Zoe was doing and if she had been taking care of herself. Devyn had been really worried last time that she got hurt and found out that Zoe had gotten really sick over the whole matter. She did not want that happening again so she had to make sure that Zoe was actually looking after herself or else she was going to be a little stern with her on the matter. The last thing Devyn wanted was to have someone getting sick and not taking care of themselves because of her.
"Good." Devyn responded to Zoe after Zoe said yes to having taken care of herself. That was what Devyn wanted to hear so was pretty much going to leave Zoe alone and just rub her back until she fell asleep. There was a question however about how Devyn was doing, well more so how she was feeling. She was feeling in a slight panic, trapped, and that she should stop putting off this whole taking a break from the relationship. “I’m fine. The place where I got stiches is hurting a little but I guess whatever they had me on is wearing down a little.” Devyn opted with more of her physical condition which also worked with the whole how she was feeling sort of thing so it should have been okay with Zoe. “I feel like I have not eaten for a while and oddly still tired.” Devyn said after a moment, and it was true that she had not eaten while she had been out of it.
She was hooked up to an IV so she was still getting all of the things she needed and she was sure the school took care of pretty much everything that needed to be dealt with a person who was unconscious. She was not dead, just her body and mind was doing sort of a reboot after having lost control for so long. “Are you comfy?” Devyn then asked after having her mind wonder off for a moment and figured that just trying to go to sleep might have been best for the both of them. Just sleep and pretend everything was still okay and normal; it was after all, it was just that whole love confession that was hanging in the air. Scolding Devyn for not saying it back; for not being the right person for Zoe, at least in her mind.

Good, well, that was something, though Zoe was fairly certain Devyn said in result to her taking care of herself. Was that because Devyn cared? Or because Devyn was concerned about the guilty feeling she'd get if she found out that Zoe had been neglecting herself because of her? Zoe shoved the thoughts out of her mind as Devyn continued, asserting that she was more or less okay. Were Zoe not a trembling mess of emotional distress she might have coyly offered to kiss the wound better. As it was, she didn't even think it. The mention of eating had her wondering, but she figured that that staff would be regulating Devyn's food. She didn't want to interrupt that.
Was Zoe comfortable? She nodded, moving to get a little more, wondering if the two of them should just drift off to sleep. Zoe tried to remember if there was anyone else she knew or cared about who might have been hurt or wounded. She already knew about the captives; everyone had heard about them. Zoe hadn't known any of them anyway. So that left those defending and distracting... none of which Zoe could recall off hand. She sighed, moving to snuggle against Devyn.
She chuckled as something came to her, and she turned to look up at Devyn. "So the Shadow Prince helped get rid of the SPECTREs?" It was a poor little joke, but at least it was something light, and it lightened Zoe's heart to say it. Maybe she wouldn't even need an escort anymore, maybe there would be something else to focus on...

Devyn did care, about Zoe a lot. More than she liked to let on as she had told Zoe in the past. She wondered if Zoe remembered when she had let those words out to her girlfriend. It mattered in its way because that should have been at least enough for Zoe to understand that she was important to Devyn. She was not just some girl that Devyn wanted to sleep with. Zoe was someone Devyn cared about, wanted around, wanted to hang out with, and yes sleep with so very badly. It was that last part and the relationship that were making things complicated. When you were a person who liked to touch and feel, but the person you touched and felt was the only one who could feel everything the whole time while you went numb...it was just difficult. Not only was it not fair for Devyn, but it didn't allow her to feel fully satisfied. It was like have just one chip, maybe two but you were never allowed to eat the whole bag.
Never allowed to eat that whole bag even after taking care of it, keeping it happy, and not getting another chip bag like it. It just made it difficult to deal with for Devyn when she wanted something and could not have it. She was not the type to be all ‘if I can’t have it, not one can'. She was willing to let Zoe go to find someone better for her. Someone who could handle Zoe's ability, not want to be so physical with Zoe. Friends would be the easiest, Devyn wanted that. Zoe nodded in response to being comfortable, moving a little. Devyn made sure to put her arms around and keep her close to her body like Zoe liked. She would let Zoe do the entwining however if she so desired as Devyn mainly focused on keeping her mind away from letting the words slip out. Sleep was probably the best idea to avoid any words that would probably send Zoe back into her shakes and crying.
Devyn looked at Zoe as she heard the sigh and felt Zoe snuggling into her, comfortable herself with even this. A chuckle had Devyn blinking for a moment and then a small smile tugged on her face as Zoe calling her by the nickname that she loved. it made her feel warm for a moment and enough to have her leaning forward to give Zoe's lips a quick kiss. "The Shadow Prince did what they could, but now the Shadow Prince and their princess should be getting some sleep, yeah?" Devyn asked, giving Zoe a warm smile as she was tempted to kiss Zoe again but decided against it.

They moved to kiss, which soothed Zoe far, far more than she would've liked to admit. Kissing Devyn always felt so splendid, but it felt especially wonderful following their spat. It meant that Devyn still cared, at least on some level. It meant, as far as Zoe was concerned, that they weren't breaking up. That little gesture meant far more than the words or other things that Devyn had managed, and it banished all Zoe's fears and the gremlin that had been rampaging around her insides.
Sleep, Zoe nodded, thinking that sounded well. She moved against Devyn, draping an arm around her girlfriend. Zoe curled against her then, taking slow, deep breaths, again inhaling her girlfriend with each intake. she breathed in the smell, the taste, let the sound of her breathing and heartbeat fill her. Zoe senses became entwined with Devyn, and like that, she relaxed, falling into the wonderful bliss that was sleep.
