Samuel grunted a bit at her critique. Has she ever read Shakespeare? Also, poems didn't have to rhyme. And that was a metaphor. It meant she ate a lot, but didn't gain weight. Samuel got a little angry at her critique because she clearly didn't understand his work of genius. Whatever, at least he'll get out of the dorms. 'not a lot of competition' "That's reassuring," he said sarcastically, "but I'll take it."
He stood up from his chair stretching a bit. Her wanting to run off with her friends was fine, as long as she at least spent some time with him. "That's fine, but I request one dance." he nodded in her direction. He then checked his cell phone for the time. Wow, he was here a lot long than he expected. Honestly, he was so emotionally drained it was really just time for him to go lay down and recover. "I'll meet you outside the dorms, an hour prior to prom?" he asked, just to make things solid. He reached a hand out to shake her hand.

Frank didn't really register sarcasm. It didn't even produce a blip on her radar, so she didn't bother to respond to that little bit. She did watch as her future prom date stretched.
"Well, duh, of course we'll dance. Probably a few times," said Frank, her head bobbing with enthusiasm yet again. "outside the dorms an hour before prom it is. I'll seeeeee you there!"
And with that, Frank went off, practically skipping away from her prom date, thrilled that this had at least worked to some degree, even if she wasn't one hundred percent confident in her date just yet.
