Melanie nodded as she looked around when Beau said there was plenty of room. She imagined it having all her stuff where she planned and it seemed quite like home but there was one thing missing which she could not bring with her and that was her dog Maisy. She always woke up in the morning with a friendly bark and a lick in the face but she knew she could not get that here.
"No that's all I have" she said when Beau ask if she had anymore stuff "mainly photographs" she said as she unzipped a big bag and took out a picture of her and a cattle dog on her shoulders which was Maisy she smiled as she showed it to Beau.

Beau nodded; he'd figured that the girl didn't have a whole lot in the way of stuff. Photographs made sense too, and he turned to look as Melanie pulled a few out. "nice dog,' he said, nodding, "shame that they don't allow pets of that size 'round here. Miss 'em sometimes," Beau shrugged. He'd never really had a dog of his own, what with the massive family and all, but of course the family had one, still did as far as Beau knew (and they definitely would've filled him in had something happened there).
Now Beau stuck his hands in his pockets, looking around the room. He had no doubt that Melanie could fill it soon enough, but he didn't think that he could really help with that. "you need anythin' else?" he asked, looking toward the girl. He didn't want to just leave her if she could still use something. "Sometimes people wanna know where somethin' is or whatnot, but I reckon your roommates could show you too," he chuckled, rubbing at the back of his head. He just felt like he should be helping the girl somehow; felt wrong to just up and abandon her.

Melanie said a small thanks when Beau said Maisy looked like a nice dog and she appreciated that someone else thought her dog was nice. She knew in her heart that her dog would miss her and she would miss Maisy.
When she thought about it that was her only friend at home but she did not spend to much time thinking about it. She said to Beau "no that's ok I will probably start unpacking and then explore the grounds for myself" when Beau asked if she needed anything. "Maybe we could meet up sometime when I have gotten used to the place". She said this as she placed her photos beside her bedside. "Maybe we can talk over the phone as well"

Unpacking and exploring; made sense to Beau. He nodded, accepting Melanie's decision. Didn't stop him from chuckling though. "Glad to see you ain't shy," he offered, having known plenty of people who wouldn't leave their rooms for a while. He was half tempted to add that on there, but Melanie had already dug out her phone, reminding Beau of his own. Soon he was nodding again, though this time, he was also digging into his pocket. a few moments later, he had the phone out, holding it up for Melanie to see.
"Sure thing," he said, "at least you can text me or somethin'. Figured out how to do that,' mostly because of Liz. in fact, Beau had to slide past a text from the girl to get to the rest of his phone's functions. He soon had his number up, nodding and moving to show it to Melanie. "There's the number," he said, "lemme know if you need me to read it out or anythin'." Not that Beau didn't think Melanie capable of doing so herself; he just knew that it could sometimes be easier to copy something down while someone read it instead of trying to alternate between reading one screen and punching stuff in on another.

Mel switched on her phone and said "that sounds like a good idea" she smiled as Beau said they could text each other. She put her phone into the add contact section and she looked at Beau's phone number and she typed it in making sure there was no errors. Then she nodded when she was finished typing it in and then she showed Beau her phone numbers on her phone.
She looked up at Beau and thought to herself that he was a nice guy, very helpful and attractive. Melanie mentally slapped herself in the mind for thinking that but outside she just looked at him when he put her number into his phone.

Beau waited while Melanie punched in his number, humming under his breath. Soon she showed hers, and he followed suit, taking longer than Melanie by a noticeable amount. He did have some practice entering girls' numbers into his phone though, as it was one of the few things he'd done a couple of times. Soon he was nodding, pulling back to type up a quick text, just the two letters: "hi" and sending it off to Melanie, wanting to check the number.
"Sorry, wouldn't have been the first time I'd gotten a fake number from a pretty girl," he said, layering the words with that accent of his. He winked and then slid his phone into his pocket. 'Which reminds me, I play gigs an' stuff from time to time. Gonna be playin' on the school radio an' stuff too. So if you're interested, you should give it a listen."
Beau nodded again before turning to go, pausing just in case Melanie needed or wanted something else for him. Still felt odd, like he should be helping the girl more, but he didn't want to creep around or anything.

Melanie made a small laugh as Beau said it would not be the first time he got a fake number. Not understanding why people would not give him their right phone number after all he was sweet and that sweet accent of his. She put her phone back into her pocket which had a new message saying hi by the contact Beau.
Melanie said "that would be really cool hearing you on the school radio, knowing a familiar voice" she watched as Beau turned to go and she said "and thanks again for everything". She made one last smile at Beau before he left and then she put her picture with Maisy and herself on the bedside table. She thought to herself this is now my home and looked around the bedroom. Better get started unpacking.
