Jason paused a moment. He wasn’t sure if Devyn got just how dirty her comment might sound. Or maybe she did and meant it that way. Then again, she didn’t have any smirk on her face so whatever she meant by it she was not proud of, though that didn’t mean she was ashamed of it either. He tried to forget about it but he did roll his eyes a bit. The things you hear some days. That didn’t beat the people coming in with some weird objects stuffed up where the sun doesn’t shine but that would still end up on the list of crazy things you can hear at times.
He did consider a moment telling her it might be the monogamy getting on her or the fact she knew she had to be careful with Zoe that quieted things down. But speaking of a teenager’s sex life made him uncomfortable. She’d be pleased to know that, but sadly for her, Jason was not going to tell. Since she agreed for him to dim the light, he went to the switch and turned off some of the lights on the ceiling. It was not dark and they could continue the examination but at least it would be easier on her eyes. “Are sunglasses enough for you when the light’s too harsh?” he asked. He tried to convince himself it was purely for medical reasons. It was, in a way. But not for this particular medical checkup. He was simply curious about her power and its effects.
He had a tiny smile as she explained it was just a joke. He had no idea how she wanted him to react but obviously she was not doing it the right way. Right now, he was being a doctor and he had to listen and take in everything she had to tell him, joke or no joke, as if it was serious. “Are you training harder than usual lately?” he asked, already testing if any of her limb was stiff from soreness or anything. “There are creams you can use for sore muscles. Acetaminophens will also do the trick and you can get some without a prescription, it’s aspirin. And rest too, between sessions. Don’t use cold, it might make things worse if it’s muscle-related. Hot water can do the trick,” he said, being all doctor and the like. He decided to believe her when she said it was not related to Zoe and what happened. Because she seemed able to move her limbs without a problem. There should not be any side effect from it left. He had no idea the kind of life she had, maybe she just pushed herself a little too hard.
