"It could," admitted Guy, nodding. "Though I'm not certain. if you'd like, we could test that. I can partially suppress someone's powers, only take away and little and we can see how you react to that. You could determine at what point your power fails you, if that's even what happens," Guy had to admit that he actually liked this idea the more he said it. He should've figured that doing the suppression suddenly would've triggered something. He hadn't given her body time to adjust, to slowly work itself to being unguarded or what have you. True, he would've done it at some point anyway, because that needed to be tested, but he knew that not thinking of it wasn't professional of him.
Thankfully, the girl kept being remarkably astute, plastering a smile on her face too. Well, Guy wasn't going to be the one to burst her bubble. It wasn't in him to take away a student's hope; his job was quite the opposite, in fact. Knew about her mother, had control, was ready to go again, even turning to him. Guy folded his arms over his chest, studying her.
"I'm thinking that we could, should, try to do a partial suppression next," he suggested, keeping his tone professional and authoritative. "To determine if it's an immediate suppression of powers that resulted in your shock and all. I'm not going to do it until you're ready though: your preparation could also be a fact. most abilities require some cognition to activate, though yours does seem to be more subconscious."
And Guy waited, not moving until she said something. If Lux went along with it, he'd of course do it, slowly suppressing her powers, which gave him a great deal of stress, but he had training and years of experience: he could handle a little stress.
