Her hands held the warm cup of coffee as she looked over at Serena sitting across from her. She offered the familiar face a smile before pursing her lips. Sitting still felt... Well, it wasn't pleasant. Erika would much more have preferred actively doing something, like for example hiking or dancing, but even Erika had her limits to how much activity she could squeeze into her days, along with everything else she needed to do. She'd spent the past few days filling ever second of her days with something to do. It surely helped that she had plenty of school work to do with finals coming around, along with her part time job and making the prom dresses she'd been asked to.
And even then, sitting still was about to drive her insane. Lifting the cup to her lips, Erika finished the rest of her coffee in one go. Placing the now empty cup on the table, Erika quickly rose to her feet. "Let's go do something," she offered, reaching her hand out for Serena.
Serena already knew the gist of what had happened lately, but Erika didn't want to sit around and talk about it. She had her sister for that and it was more than enough to have her sister and the counselor pry everything out of her. Right now, Erika just wanted to have some fun and forget everything else.

Serena wasn't usually the type to spend too much time in coffee shops, she was the type who drank tea and generally avoided coffee, and the tea in these shops always seemed to be sub-standard as far as she was concerned, however today she didn't say a thing, she already knew what had been going on with Erika, frankly she was concerned about her friend so she was going to do everything in her power to cheer her up.
The blonde drained her cup and then took Erika's hand standing up straight and dusting down her top. She was dressed in jeans and a pretty blue long sleeved top today. She gave Erika her usual brilliant reassuring smile. Everything was gonna be okay, they would have a great time today. If the girl had one talent when it came to social situations, it was smiling and being a friend to whoever needed it most.
"Well, after all of that coffee I would not be surpised in the slightest if it takes a while to burn through your energy." She giggled. The girl gestured towards the doorway. "So what are you in the mood to do today? I'm just glad to not be at a desk. So I'm game for literally anything." She admitted.

A snort fell between the brunette's lips at the comment her friend made. "Please, as if I'm not already immune to it after all the late nights I've spent studying," she drawled, a slight roll to her eyes before she tossed the blonde a soft smile. Erika was restless, yes, but that wasn't due to the caffeine. Not that it really mattered of course. They were already on their way out of here, so there was little to be done about it. There was a question then, which had Erika furrowing her brows. What were they doing anyways? Silently, she made her way towards the door as she contemplated the answer.
"That is a very good question," she admitted as they walked through the doors and stepped out onto the pavement. Looking around for a brief moment, Erika turned towards Serena. "Sadly, Kalispell is hardly New York or Los Angeles, so it doesn't have everything to offer." She fell silent again, her brown eyes moving up and down the street, absentmindedly watching the people around.
Clearly, sitting still and doing nothing wasn't an option for either of them. That much was blatantly obvious. But Erika was not in the mindset where she wanted to sit still. And she wasn't about to touch alcohol either, after what had happened, so that was off the table.

Serena giggled at Erika's comment. She was fully aware of what Erika was talking about. She had a small kettle in her own room for that very reason, and plenty of teabags. She tried to stay away from coffee though. Any time she did drink it the bitterness usually just woke her straight up, the increased caffiene content and stronger flavour were a powerful combo to her.
"Well, I certainly understand that. Or nights after being out and being in classes..." She made slightly shifty eyes. The girl may well have had a label of goodie twoshoes attached to her by onlookers at times, but she was most certainly a social creature, who loved company of others. Which these days often took her to parties, or out to the movies. That was, when she wasn't nailed to her desk working.
The blonde shrugged. "True, but I'm sure if we look hard enough we can find something active to get up to." She smiled. Serena's own mind wandered to New York for a moment, her face took on a slightly grimmer expression for a second as a few... unpleasent images flashed through her mind. Memories. Bad, bad memories.
Erika's laugh knocked her out of it. "Hmmmm" She contemplated. "Well, we could hit the mall. Or go find something random and outdoorsie to do. Like climbing or something." She paused for a second. "To be perfectly honest I'm game for anything, I've just missed hanging out with you." After Erika had been married and divorced and done everything else in her chaotic life, Serena hadn't seen her enough.
